Mr. Shu Yi talks about "New Olympics, 'Old' Beijing"

w88 casino News(Reporter Hu Liya)Former director of the Museum of Modern Chinese Literature and son of Mr. Lao She, Mr. Shu Yi, a famous writer and literary critic, came to w88 casino on the evening of April 6th and gave a speech entitled "Beijing Culture" on the protection of historical and cultural cities. About twenty minutes before the speech started, the lecture venue, Classroom 828, Ningyuan Building, w88 casino, was already full, and many students had to stand in the back row. The two-hour speech not only allowed the students present to experience the famous writer's love for Beijing's history and culture, but also listened to his unique insights on how to protect the historical and cultural city.

At half past seven, Mr. Shu Yi was warmly welcomed by his classmates as soon as he entered the classroom. The speech began in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere.

During the speech, Mr. Shu Yi spoke at a steady pace and had clear ideas. From the expression and complexion, It’s hard to believe that Mr. Shu is over seventy years old.

First of all, Mr. Shu Yi talked about the demise of many ancient but highly historical civilizations due to the development of modern urban civilization. He took the Yi people as an example: the Yi people circulate a primitive dance that represents the fertility worship of the Yi people, In the cultural parade in Beijing, this dance was displayed together with the cultures of other ethnic groups around the world, but the costumes and props in the dance at that time had lost their original style. Similarly, it is sad that in Beijing, ancient civil buildings are suffering serious damage due to the characteristics of the civil engineering itself and improper protection. Moreover, due to the intervention of real estate developers, a large part of Beijing's ancient buildings have been destroyed. Mr. Shu Yi emphasized that even if only the ruins of the Waxku Hutong, Dangku Hutong, and Porcelain Ku Hutong that were originally part of the Imperial City are left, great efforts must be made to protect them so that these historical marks can move forward with the times.

Mr. Shu Yi also analyzed the fundamental reasons why the ancient city culture has not been fully protected. First of all, because the value of ancient culture has not received due enough attention, the planning and development methods of urban construction are still unscientific to a certain extent. In fact, the economic value of ancient culture itself has not been explored. He said that every nation has its own unique culture, which is priceless. Take the city of Stockholm as an example, The city retains the original buildings in the city center, attracting a large number of tourists from all over the world every year. London's move to retain the original buildings and transform them into museums has also gained huge economic value. Mr. Shu Yi used these two examples to prove the economic value of ancient culture. As a result, Mr. Shu Yi also put forward the idea of "New Olympics, 'Old' Beijing", and the audience burst into thunderous applause.

During the speech, Mr. Shu Yi talked about the architecture in Beijing many times. When he talked about Beijing, Mr. Shu Yi's words became very passionate and full of pride. His emotions also infected the students present, and everyone applauded from time to time.

Finally,Shu YiMr. put forward several suggestions to improve the current situation in Beijing: evacuate the population; the government funds the protection of ancient buildings; improve the internal facilities of old houses without changing the appearance of the houses; real estate developers are not allowed to control urban construction, and old buildings must be renovated in a "microcirculation" manner; to2008 is an opportunity to show the world the charm of the traditional building of the ancient city - the courtyard house.

After the speech, Mr. Shu Yi answered the students’ questions. As the organizer of this event, the Student Union of the w88 casino of Foreign Languages presented Mr. Shu Yi with a souvenir - a bamboo slip version of "The Analects of Confucius".
