Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Hairan discussed with everyone the popular language and cultural phenomena in Vietnam, mainly in the following aspects: first, the phenomenon of synonyms in Vietnamese; second, the popular Internet language among Vietnamese youth; third, the phenomenon of mixed English in Vietnamese; fourth, the differences in the capitalization of initial letters in Vietnam. Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Haira said that for students majoring in Vietnamese, it is necessary to understand the popular online language in Vietnam, but they must first establish a solid foundation in Vietnamese. Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Hairan also pointed out that whether English should be mixed with Vietnamese and when it should be capitalized are still unresolved issues and require further discussion and research.
