Each contestant was fully prepared, and their speeches had their own characteristics and performed very well. The impromptu speech stage uses the method of answering within 10 seconds after listening to the questions on the spot. The contestants are allowed to comment and express their opinions on some current hot topics such as young people returning to their hometowns for employment and civil service exams. Each contestant gave a three-minute impromptu speech on their respective topics and only had 10 seconds of thinking time. This is a comprehensive examination of the contestants’ language proficiency, knowledge reserve, reaction ability, etc.

After fierce competition, Du Hanyi from Tsinghua University and Wang Haonan from Beijing Foreign Studies University won the special prize. They will represent Beijing in the final scheduled to be held in Tokyo, Japan on March 12 next year.
