[Introduction to competition questions]
The "Price Competition" is the most authoritative international moot court competition in the field of media law today, with wide representation and influence. The competition requires participating team members to conduct comparative research on cutting-edge hot issues in the fields of media law and human rights law from domestic, regional and international perspectives, submit pleadings and conduct court arguments.
This competition includes cutting-edge issues such as artificial intelligence legislation on the basis of traditional topics in media law. The applicant involved in the competition question is a famous "Internet celebrity" in a certain country. She used the generative artificial intelligence RMSM developed by OneAI, a co-applicant in this case, to automatically generate and publish content on social media platforms, expressing concern about the armed conflict situation in neighboring countries and calling on her government to stop the supply of weapons to neighboring countries. This triggered heated discussions on the Internet and confrontations in real life.
[Event status]
A total of 89 teams from Asia-Pacific, Middle East, South Asia, Africa, America and Europe participated in this Price Competition. Among them, 32 winning teams advanced to the international round held at Oxford University from April 15th to 19th. After successfully advancing to the Asia-Pacific round in December last year, the UNICEF team prepared for the competition for nearly four months. Vice President Gong Hongliu led the team to England, and successfully concluded with an outstanding performance among the "Global Top Eight".
In the first game of the international preliminaries, due to an unexpected situation, the Lebanese University of Phoenicia team failed to arrive on time. The organizer was forced to temporarily adjust our team's schedule, which forced us to postpone the game for one day, and there was only half an hour between the two games that were scheduled for the next day, which was relatively unfavorable. We quickly adjusted our preparation arrangements and competitive status, and won the first battle by taking the lead in pleadings and not losing a single point in the court argument.

In the second game, the w88 law team met the National Law w88 casino of India University (the runner-up and the best pleading award in this South Asian competition). The gap between this game and the first game was very short. Our debaters Jia Sirui and Li Kang quickly adjusted their positions and calmly dealt with the challenge. Since their research fields are highly related to the competition questions, the on-site judges directly addressed the "pain points" of both parties and asked questions in series. Our debaters responded comprehensively, output fluently, and tried their best to show the team's rich research results. Although they ultimately lost to an opponent with the advantage of native English, the direct confrontation with a strong international traditional team played a key role in stabilizing the team's mentality, adjusting expectations, and improving their competitive level.

In the third game of the preliminaries, the w88 Law team played as the defendant against Georgetown University of the United States (second place in the Best Letter Award of this Americas Competition). According to the opponent's petition received in advance, his argument is simple, but his language is colorful and good at rendering, so he needs to be prepared and fully prepared. During the court debate, the three judges (two of whom were native English speakers) asked intensive and fast questions. Our team made targeted responses through in-depth study of the opponent's pleadings and learning from the experience of the previous two games to fully resolve the judges' doubts. However, due to the temporary adjustment of the structure of the court defense draft, the fluency was slightly less than that of the other party, and the court defense did not gain a clear advantage.

After three fierce battles in the preliminaries, our team finally advanced to the top 16 knockout rounds. In the competition for the quarterfinals, the China Business Law Team faced off against the Kyiv National University of Ukraine. The fluent expressions of our opponents who were also non-English native speakers, and the sharp and intensive questions from the judges, all made our debaters feel the pressure. However, with excellent psychological quality and solid legal foundation, we have made another victory and entered the top eight in the world. Our team’s biggest insight from this is: the relevant content retrieved daily may not seem to be the focus, but may be questioned by professional judges in the international round. Only by taking no chances and being fully prepared and not missing any possibilities can we show our advantage at critical moments.

As the top eight teams in the world entered the quarter-finals, our team faced the University of Chicago (the champion of the Americas and the best debater in the finals, and finally won the title of global champion and best debater this year). The opponent's debater took the initiative to make strategic concessions on weak arguments. His narrative style and words were full of enthusiasm, and his debating skills that were good at mobilizing emotions were admirable. Although we were slightly weaker than our opponent in court defense, the judges also spoke highly of our rigorous argumentation logic and full court defense output, and admitted that it was very difficult to make the decision of victory or defeat. Although our team was defeated in the end, we learned a lot from the performance of our outstanding opponents and accumulated valuable experience for future preparations.

On the last day of the international round, the entire UNCITRAL team watched the final - the University of Chicago (first time participant), which had played against our team before, served as the applicant, while the traditional strong team Singapore Management University (champion of this Asia-Pacific competition, and had won the global championship in 2010, 2016 and 2017) served as the respondent. In the intense and fierce confrontation, the debaters from both sides showed their mature and steady professional style, and the University of Chicago finally won the championship. The w88 Law team carefully watched the game, actively recorded, learned from the duels between the top teams, and aimed to narrow the gap and make up for the gap, strive to accumulate materials for the next session, and strive to achieve new breakthroughs in the future!

[The future is promising]
The Price Model Competition was first introduced in 2013 under the leadership of Associate Professor Zheng Haiping. It has been in the Law w88 casino of the University of w88 and Economics for twelve years. Successive Price teams have achieved outstanding results in growth and inheritance, winning many honors for the college and w88 casino, accumulating valuable experience for the moot court club, and cultivating a large number of outstanding w88 law students.
At a time when accelerating media integration has become a major national development strategy, media law is closely related to the national narrative. It is an important basis for showing the spiritual outlook of the Chinese nation and is also an important area for open exchanges and friendly academic discussions. There is great potential for students of w88 law to further explore the direction of media law. As a high-end foreign-related practical teaching platform, the Price Moot Court Competition will also help more young people in w88 law speak out China’s voice and tell Chinese stories.
We welcome students who are interested in media law to join us and create new breakthroughs and brilliance for Team Price!
