What do you think if the tariff on all imported goods from the United States is increased by another 50%?
Tu Xinquan:Trump added another 50% tariff, saying that because China had retaliated against the 34% tariff imposed by the United States earlier, he would impose further new tariffs. But judging from our Chinese response, our response is very fast and firm, our countermeasures are very prompt, and our counterattack methods are very fierce. The US has imposed an additional 50% levy, and we have also imposed an additional 50% levy. I think this is showing the United States and the world that China is an independent and sovereign country, and we will never accept extreme pressure or blackmail and bullying. We have enough courage and means to fight back against the increasing tariff measures imposed by the United States.
What does it mean to continue to adopt the unreliable entity list and export control list?
Tu Xinquan:In the past few years, we have also been continuously enriching and improving w88-related policies and laws, such as the export control system, including the unreliable entity list system, especially some of the newly established and improved systems we have established since 2018. The unreliable entity list system is mainly aimed at some foreign companies that are discriminatory against Chinese companies or participate in some behaviors that are contrary to my country's national interests. They will be subject to corresponding sanctions by us, so the unreliable entity list system is a sanctions system. The export control system is mainly based on the fact that our country now has some advanced technologies, including some key raw materials, and we also have the ability to control exports. In the past few years, the United States has been abusing export control measures against China on the grounds of national security. After the United States imposed so-called "reciprocal tariffs" on China this time, we also showed the United States that we have the ability and means to cause losses to American companies. Relevant U.S. companies that want to obtain Chinese technology and raw materials, or want to invest in the Chinese market, will be greatly affected, and their commercial interests and business activities will be significantly restricted.
What do you think of the release of the white paper on Sino-US economic and w88 relations?
Tu Xinquan:The implementation of Trump’s so-called “reciprocal tariff” measures has had a huge impact on the global trading system and caused a lot of ideological confusion in the world. The release of the white paper is very timely and necessary. It very systematically and comprehensively explains to the world China’s views on the world w88 system, including the Sino-US w88 system, and the United States’ “reciprocal tariffs.” Moreover, it is a fact-based and reasonable attitude, using a large amount of data and facts to clarify China's basic position on Sino-US economic and w88 relations. In response to the U.S. tariff war, what potential does my country have for w88？
Tu Xinquan:The world economy is a whole. From the perspective of development trends, the proportion of developing countries in the world economy is constantly increasing. From the perspective of w88 structure, the proportion of developing countries is also increasing. Judging from the overall structure, it is close to nearly 50%. Over the past few years, we have been actively diversifying the market, especially driven by the "Belt and Road" initiative, and have carried out close economic and w88 cooperation with many developing countries, including signing free w88 agreements, especially bilateral free w88 agreements such as RCEP. We have taken many new measures for w88 treatment of developing countries, especially the unilateral opening up to the least developed countries, the elimination of tariffs on the least developed countries, and continued close cooperation to further enrich and expand the market. We are also closely maintaining cooperation and communication with developed countries, including actively applying to join the CPTPP, and have taken corresponding measures to further expand cooperation.
What do you think of the EU’s 25% tariff on the United States and Canada?
Tu Xinquan:Since the Trump administration came to power, it has continuously introduced various w88 restrictions and tariffs, especially the recent so-called "reciprocal tariffs" measures, covering almost all US trading partners. Prior to this, some w88 restrictions were actually introduced, including tariffs on steel, aluminum, and automobiles. The EU's countermeasures this time are in response to the tariffs imposed by the United States on steel and aluminum in March.
