China News Service, Moscow, April 12thThe 14th All-Russian “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for College Students Moscow Division Selection Competition was held at the Chinese Cultural Center in Moscow on the 11th local time.
This competition is sponsored by the Education Office of the Chinese Embassy in Russia, and hosted by the Confucius Institute at the Russian State University for the Humanities and the Russian Chinese Teachers Association. 30 students majoring in Chinese and related majors from 17 universities and Confucius Institutes in five cities: Moscow, Volgograd, Ryazan, Tomsk, and Kaliningrad actively signed up to participate. After review and pre-selection by the organizing committee, 25 contestants were finally confirmed to participate.

Cao Shihai, Minister Counselor of the Education Office of the Chinese Embassy in Russia, Acting Vice-President for Foreign Affairs of the Russian State University of Humanities Zapotkina, and Professor Yi Fucheng, Chairman of the Russian Chinese Teachers Association and Russian Director of the Confucius Institute of the Russian State University of Humanities, attended the opening ceremony of the competition and delivered speeches, expressing their ardent expectations and best wishes for the contestants. Sasha, the Moscow division champion of the 13th All-Russian “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for College Students, also sent a video from China to share her gains and thoughts from participating in the “Chinese Bridge” competition.

This competition is divided into three links. In the speech session on the theme of "One World, One Family", the contestants introduced the Chinese wisdom contained in "One World, One Family" from multiple angles based on their personal Chinese learning experiences; the Chinese talent show was the most applauded part of the competition. The contestants demonstrated rich and colorful Chinese traditions through Chinese song singing, poetry recitation, movie dubbing, Chinese dance, Allegro and other forms. Traditional culture; in the impromptu speech session, the contestants selected topics on the spot and gave speeches on Chinese culture and national conditions such as traditional Chinese festivals, literature, cities, scenic spots, idioms and allusions, film and television dramas, food, science and technology development, as well as environmental protection, sports, Chinese learning, hobbies and other topics, demonstrating their Chinese proficiency and unique insights into the selected topics.

After fierce competition, David Ma, a contestant recommended by the Confucius Institute at Moscow State Linguistic University, won the first place. The top three contestants will represent the Moscow Division in the Russian Division Finals of the 24th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students to be held in Volgograd in May.
At the closing ceremony, Chinese students from Moscow State University and students from the Confucius Institute at the Russian State University for the Humanities also presented wonderful theatrical performances for everyone.
