Huang Haigang, leader of the "Global Education Center Cities Evaluation" project team, introduced that the world's top 100 education center cities are spread across six continents, of which Europe ranks first with 39 cities, becoming the continent with the most education center cities in the world; Asia Europe ranks second with 29 cities, showing a strong development trend; North America ranks third with 24 cities. Although the number is not as good as Europe and Asia, the overall quality is outstanding; Oceania, South America, and Africa have 4, 2, and 2 cities respectively shortlisted for the top 100.
"Judging from the evaluation results, China is the country with the densest distribution of educational center cities in Asia and the highest overall ranking. A total of 16 cities were selected. Among them, Beijing and Shanghai ranked 3rd and 9th respectively on the list. Cities represented by Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Chongqing, etc. also showed strong educational development strength and potential in the rankings." Huang Haigang said.
Lu Fuyong, a member of the "Global Education Center Cities Evaluation" project team, pointed out that Chinese cities generally have outstanding performance in the dimensions of "educational contribution" and "educational support" and perform well in the field of "educational development", but some cities are poor in "educational service". There are shortcomings and deficiencies in the field; Chinese cities have relatively outstanding performance in key indicators such as total investment in urban education funds, number of patent authorizations, and number of top academic papers. However, there is still room for improvement in third-level indicators under "educational service capabilities" such as the number of international conferences and the scale of international students.
