Xia Wenbin
Zeng Guofan once left a famous saying about reading: read scriptures with hard days, read history with soft days. There are multiple interpretations of its meaning, but I think the core thing is to let people connect reading with the outside world and combine it with personal life experience. In the days of excitement and excitement, you might as well read the classics to make yourself richer; in the days of dullness and unrealized ideals, you might as well read the rise and fall of history and constantly correct your road signs for moving forward.
Reading can make people grow in all aspects. This kind of growth makes you taller, thicker and deeper, giving you a firm determination and wise flexibility in your studies and future work. Personally, reading has made me grow taller, see farther, and become stronger.
Increase your spiritual height while reading. Whether it was when I was studying in my youth or doing management work in the future, I would always encounter some troubles. For example, at work, if you carry out some reforms out of public motives, you will inevitably harm the interests of some people, and you will inevitably be criticized. People often say that nine out of ten things in life are unsatisfactory. How to get rid of these troubles, the answer is to read. When I read "How Steel Was Tempered", I remembered that only when a person defeats others and himself in hardship can he truly grow into a steel warrior; when I read Romain Rolland's "John Christophe", what I learned from it was the spiritual spirit of grabbing the throat of fate and having the courage to surpass oneself. Thinking about what happened to the characters in the book, our worries are nothing to worry about.
Broaden your spiritual horizons while reading. I have worked in Xinjiang for eight years as an aid cadre. Many people say it is not easy when I meet them, but my answer is always very good. It’s not that those days were not difficult, but it’s because during those days, I read a lot of historical biographies, including Chinese history and Xinjiang history. These readings have not only brought great benefits to my education, teaching and management work, but also enabled me to nourish my spirit and expand my horizons in a deeper historical time and space through reading and dialogue with sages.
Continuously improve your overall quality while studying. No matter what profession you are in or what position you are in, being a human being comes first. Be a person who has an ideal mission, is courageous to take responsibility, and is willing to help others, and your career will be bright and you will have more and more friends. I have met some young people who are extremely talented, but they are not well-structured, selfish, and lack responsibility. As a result, it is difficult to achieve a career. For this reason, I have repeatedly asked young people in college classes that no matter what major they study, they must read the Analects of Confucius, the Tao Te Ching and other traditional Chinese cultural classics, and they must often compare themselves with "gentlemen are harmonious but different, villains are homogeneous but not harmonious", "gentlemen value righteousness, villains value profit", "people have no faith and do not know what they can do", etc. These are the characteristics of the Chinese nation’s personality for thousands of years and are the basic principles for how we behave and do things.

Recommendation
"The Complete Works of Lu Xun" by Lu Xun, People's Literature Publishing House
This is an encyclopedia of modern and contemporary Chinese literature, history and philosophy. The enlightenment of literature, historical criticism, spiritual transcendence, as well as Lu Xun's extraordinary life perception and profound value call, all allow us to see the spiritual atmosphere of a cultural master.
"World Order" by Kissinger, CITIC Press
He who does not think about the overall situation cannot think about one area. In today's reality of great changes unseen in a century, reading the works of former US Secretary of State Kissinger will help us grasp the trend of today's world from a historical and realistic perspective, especially the direction of Sino-US relations. Although I don't completely agree with his point of view, it is beneficial to open the book and use stones from other mountains to attack jade.
