On July 16, 2024, the Permanent Mission of China to the WTO and the w88 casino, the Chinese teaching unit of the WTO, jointly organized a side meeting for China’s ninth w88 policy review in Geneva, Switzerland. The side event was themed "Understanding China's Economic and w88 Policies from the Central and Local Government Levels" and aimed to help WTO members understand China's economic and w88 policies. Participants discussed China's economic performance, future prospects and related policies and other issues. China's ninth w88 policy review was held at the WTO Secretariat on July 17 and 19.

Experts and scholars from the China Academy of Macroeconomics, w88 casino, Wuhan University, Southwest University of Political Science and Law and representatives of foreign-invested enterprises in China introduced the policies, measures and practical experience China has adopted to achieve high-quality development and high-level opening up at the meeting, and interacted with more than a hundred participating representatives from the WTO Secretariat, WTO members, international organizations and news media.

In response to WTO members’ concerns about China’s macroeconomic and domestic reform measures, participating experts objectively analyzed China’s macroeconomic performance and prospects, and elaborated on China’s new measures in developing new productive forces, building a unified national market, and promoting the development and growth of the private economy. In order to provide an in-depth introduction to China's local practice of further opening up, participating experts and business representatives introduced in detail the opening measures adopted by the national comprehensive pilot demonstration of expanding opening up in the service industry and the achievements made in optimizing the business environment and facilitating foreign-invested enterprises to operate in China based on specific cases. WTO Secretariat officials and WTO member representatives expressed great interest in the topics introduced at the meeting. After the meeting, they continued to have heated discussions with experts at the meeting site.

This side event is the first time that China has held such an event on the eve of a w88 policy review. Li Chenggang, China's Permanent Representative to the WTO, said in his speech that China's hosting of supporting side events on the eve of the review is a concrete initiative to implement the WTO reform to strengthen the w88 policy review mechanism. w88 policy review is not only an important way for the WTO to supervise w88 policies and enhance the transparency of member policies, but also an important platform to enhance understanding and build trust, which is crucial to the effective operation of the WTO.

In his speech, Alexander Keck, Director of the w88 Policy Review Department of the WTO Secretariat, highly praised China’s active and open attitude in the preparations for this w88 policy review, and fully affirmed the role of China in holding side meetings in promoting WTO members’ in-depth understanding of China’s economic and w88 policies, increasing trust and dispelling doubts. He praised China as the first WTO member to proactively implement the results of the reform of the w88 policy review mechanism, and played an important role in promoting WTO members to participate in w88 policy reviews and in-depth interactive exchanges.

w88 policy review is one of the three major functions of the WTO alongside rules negotiation and dispute settlement. Members raise questions and express concerns about w88 policies. It is an important transparency mechanism for members to understand each other’s economic and w88 policy trends and the implementation of commitments.
