On August 26, the Canadian Ministry of Finance announced that it would impose high tariffs and other w88 restrictions on electric vehicles, steel and aluminum imported from China. This time, China has launched an anti-discrimination investigation into Canada's violations for the first time in accordance with Articles 7 and 36 of the Foreign w88 Law of the People's Republic of China. Subsequent measures will be taken against Canada based on the actual situation. This move not only demonstrates China's firm stance in safeguarding its own w88 rights and interests, but also provides a new paradigm for breaking excessive w88 protection and maintaining the global w88 order.

In the current international economic landscape, Canada's w88 restrictive measures against China are typical w88 protectionism and politically dominated behavior. Canada’s surcharge on Chinese goods clearly lacks necessary procedures and transparency. Previously, even before imposing tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, the EU also announced the preliminary results of the corresponding anti-subsidy investigation. In contrast, Canada's measures of skipping investigations and subjectively formulating high tax rates are obviously discriminatory and restrictive. In addition, from an economic perspective, imposing tariffs to protect domestic industry is not a good idea. Data show that the total import and export of goods between China and Canada in 2023 will be US$88.99 billion, and import and export are basically balanced. Among them, China's electric vehicle exports to Canada only account for 2% of the total exports. It can be seen that Canada's actions reflect more political considerations. However, the in-depth development of economic globalization has closely linked the interests of all countries. This kind of over-protective and restrictive w88 behavior is not conducive to the stability of the global industrial chain and will cause damage to the interests of all global participants.

Compared with previous w88 countermeasures such as reciprocal tariff increases, China's anti-discrimination investigation against Canada is a new paradigm that breaks the over-protection of w88 and has three major characteristics: legitimacy, pertinence, and demonstration.

First of all, anti-discrimination investigations serve as a "starter" for countermeasures, providing a more solid legal basis for our country's follow-up actions. Based on the Foreign w88 Law of the People's Republic of China, China's move is a concrete manifestation of China's exercise of its rights in accordance with the law and the defense of the interests of domestic enterprises in response to the wrong practices of the Canadian government. It will also make it easier to win understanding and support in the international community. In the future, anti-discrimination investigations may become a new normal paradigm for China to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests and express its position.

Secondly, countering unreasonable w88 restrictions through anti-discrimination investigations can not only minimize domestic economic losses, but also be more in line with global economic interests. In the context of the interdependence of the global economy, more targeted anti-discrimination investigations can directly and effectively respond to unfair w88 practices. Secondly, they are more legitimate and more targeted than simply reciprocal tariff increases. By retaining the space for follow-up countermeasures to formulate more influential countermeasures plans, they can achieve effective responses while avoiding potential damage to the domestic economy and global supply chains, and have a better warning effect.

Finally, the application of anti-discrimination surveys not only enhances China’s dominant position in international public opinion, but also demonstrates China’s strength and influence on the international stage. In the past, anti-dumping, countervailing investigations and other means were common practices used by countries to deal with unfair competition. The word "discrimination" in the anti-discrimination investigation accurately points out the nature of Canada's tariff increase, emphasizes the political overtones of the country's measures, and sets a clear example for other countries. At the same time, this action also clearly conveyed to the international community China's firm position and determination in safeguarding its legitimate rights and interests.

For global economy and w88, China's countermeasures not only demonstrate its sense of responsibility and responsibility as an important participant in the global economy, but also create a new paradigm for the international community to break over-protection in w88 and set a model for maintaining the multilateral trading system.
