From November 13th to 21st, President Xi Jinping was invited to Latin America to attend the 31st Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Informal Meeting and the 19th Group of Twenty (G20) Leaders’ Summit, and paid state visits to Peru and Brazil. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the proposal to build a community with a shared future between China and Latin America. At a time when the global economy is facing severe tests, the leaders' trip is an important action for China to actively participate in global governance and promote the construction of an open economy in the Asia-Pacific and even the world.
“Economic globalization is an objective requirement for the development of social productive forces, an inevitable result of scientific and technological progress, and a mighty historical trend. Although it has encountered headwinds and reverse waves, its development trend has never changed.” At the 31st APEC Leaders’ Informal Meeting, President Xi Jinping reiterated the necessity of adhering to the general direction of multilateralism and an open economy, and firmly safeguarding the multilateral trading system with the World w88 Organization as its core. At the 19th G20 Leaders' Summit, President Xi Jinping called on all countries to abide by the basic norms of international relations based on the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, safeguard the international order based on international law, further build international consensus, and promote an equal and orderly world, multipolarity, and economic globalization that benefits everyone and is inclusive.
Building an open economy in the Asia-Pacific and even the world is the correct guide to the direction of economic globalization. At present, the world economic environment is intertwined with "light and dark": on the one hand, geopolitical tensions are intensifying, unilateralism and protectionism are on the rise, and uncertainties have increased significantly, leading to an increase in economic downside risks; on the other hand, a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation are advancing with unprecedented depth and breadth, and the digital, green, and intelligent transformation of the world economy is accelerating, injecting strong impetus into economic globalization. Against this background, China adheres to multilateralism and advocates building a higher-level open economy. This not only points the right direction for the economic development of various countries, but also demonstrates China's responsibility and contribution in the global economic governance system by sharing China's development opportunities with the world. It promotes economic globalization to release more positive effects, which is of vital significance in leading it into a new development stage that is more dynamic, more inclusive, and more sustainable.
China is unswervingly determined to promote the establishment of an open economic system and strives to implement it. In order to more effectively build an open economic system in the Asia-Pacific and even the world, and create the next "golden thirty years" of Asia-Pacific development, President Xi Jinping proposed the basic strategy of "building an open and integrated Asia-Pacific cooperation pattern, cultivating green and innovative Asia-Pacific growth momentum, and establishing an inclusive and inclusive Asia-Pacific development concept." This is what China says and it is what it does. The China-Laos Railway and the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway have been opened to traffic, and the Port of Chancay in Peru has opened the Yala New Land-Sea Corridor... Through the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative, China has strengthened connectivity with countries along the route in the field of infrastructure, providing guidance, building a platform and creating opportunities for open cooperation in the global supply chain; at the same time, China attaches great importance to the United Nations and the World China has played an active role in multilateral platforms such as the World w88 Organization and proposed a series of Chinese plans for global and regional economic construction; in addition, China has also accelerated the reform of institutions and mechanisms that are compatible with an open economy, and is committed to building a modern market system that is fair, open, competitive and orderly, and forming a new pattern of all-round opening up to the outside world. This all proves that China's experience in developing an open economy is worthy of learning, its achievements are worthy of recognition, its actions are worthy of trust, and its prospects are worth looking forward to.
President Xi Jinping’s trip to Latin America has been fruitful and its impact is far-reaching and widespread. China joined hands with many countries to reach the "G20 Rio de Janeiro Summit Declaration", which aims to strengthen the coordination and cooperation mechanism of global economic policies and work together to deal with the complex challenges facing the current global economy. At the same time, China and Peru reached the "Protocol on Upgrading the China-Peru Free w88 Agreement", and signed the "Joint Statement on Joining Hands to Build a Community of Shared Future for a Fairer World and a More Sustainable Planet" with Brazil, marking that China and Peru and China and Brazil will further deepen cooperation in areas such as w88 and investment facilitation, infrastructure construction, energy development, and mining cooperation. President Xi Jinping’s visit to Latin America this time has discussed development plans with all parties and deepened cooperation consensus. It has fully demonstrated China’s active role and leadership in global economic governance, gathered new potential for regional cooperation, stimulated new vitality of economic globalization, and made important contributions to promoting the construction of a more just, reasonable, inclusive and win-win new international economic order. The international community has spoken highly of this. As the globalization process continues to deepen, countries are increasingly interdependent. Maintaining the multilateral trading system and promoting world economic prosperity and development have become the common aspiration and urgent needs of the international community. All parties should work together, uphold the principles of openness, inclusiveness, and win-win cooperation, strengthen policy communication and coordination, and promote the formation of a more just and reasonable international economic order; at the same time, we should continue to innovate cooperation models and methods to improve the quality and effectiveness of cooperation to achieve sustainable development of the global economy.
