During the two-month trip to Xinjiang, I served as a Ph.D. Scholars taught two courses: "International w88 Theory and Policy" and "Regional Economics: Theory and Practice", and participated in the on-site research on the "14th Five-Year Plan" undertaken by the Development and Reform Commission of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps undertaken by the China (Xinjiang) Border w88 Research Center.

Before coming to Xinjiang, I had heard that Shihezi City was known as the "Pearl of the Gobi". Having never been to the western part of the motherland, what I pictured in my mind was a scene as majestic but lonely as "the solitary smoke in the desert, the sun setting over the long river." But in fact,10When I got off the plane from Urumqi and drove to Shihezi City at the beginning of the month, I saw straight and wide streets lined with neat and layered buildings. There were trees along the way and a constant flow of people. In the ditches on both sides of the main road, you can also see small streams flowing naturally due to the height difference, which are said to originate from the snow water of the Tianshan Mountains.

Later I learned that Shihezi City is located in northern Xinjiang and is the earliest corps city established. Since the Eighth Division established the city here in 1976, forty years of development have injected enough vitality into the city. In November, I was fortunate enough to participate in a field research project of the Development and Reform Commission of the Corps, and went to Tiemenguan, Alar and Tumshuk in southern Xinjiang. Only then did I have the opportunity to glimpse a corner of the broader land of Xinjiang. The desert naturally exists, but the sparse human population often makes it impossible to see other vehicles along the way for several hours; the sunset naturally exists, but the arid Ta River only leaves a riverbed like a huge scar. The salt-alkali land on both sides of the road has a layer of snow-white crystals on its surface, and above that are poplars rising or lying horizontally. This is how the local people described Populus euphratica to me: "It will survive for a thousand years even if it is alive, it will survive for a thousand years if it dies, and it will remain immortal for a thousand years if it falls."

On the day when several of our National Conditions Education teachers arrived, the party committee secretary, deputy dean and course leaders of the w88 casino of Economics and Management of Shihezi University held a special symposium to express a warm welcome to everyone. During the exchange, we felt the heritage and temperament of Shihezi University as a leading university in Xinjiang. However, at the same time, Shihezi University was also outspoken about the difficulties it is currently facing. It admitted that inconvenient transportation and relatively backward economic development levels have caused a serious loss of trained talents, and it is more difficult to attract foreign talents. Therefore, it hopes to form a boost through closer cooperation with mainland universities and drive its own development.

During our two-month stay, we deeply felt that Xinjiang gives top priority to maintaining social stability. To this end, the leaders and teachers of Shihezi College of Economics and Management invested a lot of time and energy after class. Even so, we were still taken care of in every possible way: we stayed in the highest-standard hotel in the university and ate in a hotel3A one-yuan all-you-can-eat buffet of three dishes and one soup with fruit and yogurt. On the second day after check-in, paper towels, water, daily toiletries, etc. were specially delivered. The shampoo was even separated for men and women, and we were told not to get the wrong one.
The students in Shihezi also left a deep impression on me. Due to the lack of some basic courses such as Gao Hong and Gao Wei, students are indeed slower in accepting new knowledge, but they are very serious and will have in-depth discussions with me on specific issues after class. I was lucky to be able to face such a studious and highly adaptable student when I stepped onto the stage for the first time.

In the Xinjiang Aid Cadres Canteen, we also met a group of teachers who also came to teach from mainland universities. They may be in their prime of life, or they may have achieved success, but they all work as middle- and high-level cadres at Shihezi University, separated from their families, and have stayed there for three years. When we talked about the days in Xinjiang during the meal, some of them complained, some were open-minded, some were confused, and some were determined, but basically they all said to us young teachers who have just arrived in Xinjiang: go out more and see the beautiful Xinjiang!
In addition, this research in southern Xinjiang also brought me into contact with a group of grassroots civil servants in Xinjiang. Some of them are impassioned and can eloquently unfold the entire city's plan step by step within a few minutes; some may seem dull and dull, but can answer key figures fluently when asked; some are focused on current affairs, and some are full of romantic feelings.
In my opinion, all these people are so real, they are every brick and stone that makes up the vast Xinjiang. Rooted in poverty and trying our best to live and work under limited resource conditions is the soul of Populus euphratica spirit. Because of the countless Populus euphratica forests, it is possible for the desert to become an oasis.
