As a child who grew up by the sea, I have always lived in the east of my motherland. My fantasy about the west is the yellow land and simple people. I remember when I was defending my undergraduate thesis, a teacher learned that I was going to teach in the west. She said: "Young people of your generation are living in the best of times. You should do something for the motherland." In 2019, I packed my bags and started a one-year teaching trip with enthusiasm.
During one year of teaching in Jingyuan County, Gansu Province, I witnessed Jingyuan County’s poverty alleviation in November 2019, saw the changes in people’s lives there, and experienced the country’s policy preference and care for underdeveloped areas. There are too many people here who work tirelessly, running day and night, on the road to poverty alleviation.
The duty of a teacher is to preach, learn, and resolve doubts
I got off the bus from Lanzhou to Jingyuan and set foot on the land of Jingyuan. This yellow land with crisscrossed ravines is where I have taken root this whole year.
I was assigned to Jingyuan No. 4 Middle w88 casino, where I taught history courses for three classes in the first grade of high w88 casino. Preparing lessons is a process of accumulation and selection. I told him: "As long as you study hard, you can change your destiny, go where you want to go, and live the life you want. No matter what problems you have in study or life, you can tell the teacher. I will be your good listener and will try my best to provide you with suggestions and opinions." In the county's mid-term joint examination, this child ranked first in the class. At the same time, in the final exam, the historical scores of the three classes I taught ranked first in the series in the ordinary class, experimental class and physical arts class.

The world is so big, you should go and see it
In small counties in the west where the economy is underdeveloped, these students do not know much about the outside world due to family economic conditions, parental attitudes and other objective factors. Some children have never even left Jingyuan County. In a class of more than 60 children, only one has been to Beijing, and only two or three children have been to Lanzhou. Many children in Jingyuan County do not know how big the outside world is, the meaning of learning, have no motivation to work hard, and have no desire to change the status quo. As a supporting teacher, I can expand their horizons and give them dreams, hope, and knowledge. I think this is the meaning of existence. I thought I wanted to do something. After obtaining the consent of the Youth League Committee of Jingyuan No. 4 Middle w88 casino, I started to give motivational lectures on tour, sharing with different classes the interesting things that happened during my three years of struggle in Hengshui Middle w88 casino and my four years in w88 casino. Take them into the countries and cities I have visited, and share with them "Mona Lisa's Smile", the Eiffel Tower, Niagara Falls, the Great Lakes, the Colosseum... After I started my life as a volunteer teacher, I learned that the most lacking thing in poor areas is art teachers. Some schools even have only one music teacher per w88 casino. The second identity besides teachers - grassroots volunteers
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
In August 2019, the Jingyuan No. 4 Middle w88 casino Volunteer Association and I went to Wulan Mountain, a famous local patriotic education base, and reviewed the oath of joining the regiment in front of the "Monument to the Revolutionary Martyrs" and the "Monument to the Fourth Red Army's Forced Crossing of the Yellow River." In front of the monument, I communicated and shared the story of the Fourth Red Army with the students, and took the students to experience and touch the real history.
2019On October 12, 2019, I led my first-year high w88 casino classmates to participate in the Jingyuan Second International Marathon Volunteer Service Activity, distributing food, drinks and participation certificates to the contestants. In Jingyuan in October, people were already shivering from the cold, so I told my students: "The prerequisite for serving others is to take care of yourself. 2019At the end of October 2018, Jingyuan County held an inspirational hiking activity with the theme of “Don’t forget your original intention, keep your mission in mind” and “Inherit the Red Gene and Help Fight Poverty”. As the leading teacher, I took on the task of carrying the flag and led all the freshmen in high w88 casino to sing loudly and re-walk the 25-kilometer Long March.

In this year of teaching, I feel that I have spent a year doing something that I will never forget. As a grassroots teacher, I preached to students and solved their doubts. I passed on my thoughts and was moved. This year, as young volunteers, we also witnessed the "removal" of poverty-stricken counties in Jingyuan, using our own meager strength to help fight poverty through education and poverty alleviation. This year we absorbed the vastness and weight of the Loess Plateau and made ourselves solid and stable. Many years later, my students may no longer remember my name, but they will definitely remember that when they were in the first year of high w88 casino, they had a young history teacher who witnessed the changes in people’s lives in Jingyuan County with them, witnessed the poverty alleviation in Jingyuan County, and gave them the dream of breaking out of the small northwest county.
