Twenty-five years of poverty alleviation, the yellow sand has no green shade
What did you learn from the reading and sharing meeting of "Poetry in the Distance - Chronicle of Minning Experience"?
Reporter Liu Jiaxin
Recently, the long reportage "Poetry in the Distance - Chronicle of the Minning Experience" jointly launched by the Ningxia People's Publishing House of the Yellow River Publishing and Media Group and the Fujian People's Publishing House of the Straits Publishing and Distribution Group was first released in Beijing. On the morning of April 1, 2021, I went to the 34th Beijing Book Order Fair to listen to the book’s author He Jianming and Minning County Counterpart Poverty Alleviation Office cadre representatives Xie Xingchang and Dong Chengbi’s reading and sharing about this book.
Minning Town, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, grew from scratch, from poverty to riches, prompting the once barren and barren Xihaigu to be reborn from the ashes. It is the epitome of China's great poverty alleviation project. He Jianming, the author of "Poetry in the Distance - Chronicle of the "Minning Experience"", went to Minning many times for on-site inspections during the two years of creation, went to the forefront of poverty alleviation cooperation, and interviewed more than 80 poverty alleviation cadres and people. He brought us the most authentic and warm poverty alleviation story, panoramicly reproducing the path of prosperity and development of "getting rich first, then getting rich, the east supporting the west, and external forces promoting internal forces."
“As big as the world is, Li Yuan is the first.” Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Party Central Committee has regarded poverty alleviation as the bottom-line task and landmark indicator for building a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way. The decision-making and deployment of targeted poverty alleviation and solving the overall regional poverty problem have become the national will. Since November 6, 1996, the two provinces of Fujian and Ningxia have established a counterpart assistance relationship and jointly built Minning Village, a demonstration resettlement area, and worked side by side in the barren, arid, mountainous and deep ravine Xihaigu Desert. The villagers of Xihaigu moved to the vast Yinchuan Gobi. Through hard work, the mountains and rivers changed their appearance, the water and soil were reborn, the yellow sand became a green golden beach, and the remote areas became beautiful homes.
Use small incisions to describe grand propositions, and start with moving portraits to tell the magnificent story of poverty alleviation. This requires the watering of true feelings. The author He Jianming was a news cadre in the Lanzhou Military Region, and he has deep-rooted enthusiasm and concern for the land of Ningxia and Gansu. As a writer, he plunged his feet into the yellow sand, set his sights on the loess, and saw how the simple and tenacious individuals in this epic poverty alleviation picture "planted dreams in the barren land." When answering questions from young readers, Mr. He Jianming said excitedly that creation should enter life and the grassroots. Good works come from the passion and discovery of life, and the more exciting part than books lies in reality.
At the sharing meeting, when I listened to the author Mr. He Jianming talk about how he went deep into the local people to visit and explore the real stories behind targeted poverty alleviation, I deeply felt that reportage comes from and goes to the grassroots, especially the reportage of the new era, which has a clear concern for reality and plays the role of cultural education of "educating people and cultivating morals." Mr. He Jianming mentioned that he had shared this reportage work with two universities in Shanghai, and the college students were very enthusiastic about it. Before the exhibition, a large number of young people also lined up to buy signed books. For young people like us, reading such works can make us truly feel how China has come through today.
Minning Town poverty alleviation cadre Xie Xingchang also talked about his feelings. Speaking in a simple Ningxia dialect, he sincerely expressed his deep gratitude to the strategic decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee from the perspective of a person who has experienced poverty alleviation in Minning Town, and his tone was very emotional when he spoke about it. Director Dong Chengbi, who is responsible for the labor export of Minning Town, shared with us the tremendous spiritual and ideological changes of the young people who left Minning Town to work in Fujian. Every detail shows the superiority of the counterpart assistance system and the great benefits that the targeted poverty alleviation policy has brought to the people.
This reading sharing session is coming to an end during the reader question session. There are still more "Minning stories" waiting for us to explore in the book. Just the sincere speeches made by the guests at the sharing meeting were enough to make me imagine the countless grassroots cadres in Minning working on the front line in obscurity, and the countless people who dared to work hard and worked hard. Together, they created a great initiative for poverty alleviation and development in Minning Town, and filled Minning Town with the feelings and ideals of pursuing a better life and common prosperity. I think Minning Town is not only Minning Town in Ningxia, but also Minning Town in China. From Minning Town, we can see the struggle to revitalize the countryside, eliminate poverty, and strive for a well-off society on the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
