The "International Criminal Court Moot Court Competition (English)" is organized by the "Grotius Center for International Law Research" at Leiden University in the Netherlands, with support from the International Criminal Court (ICC), and the China University of Political Science and Law hosts its China regional competition. The theme of this competition is that Quarth, a small island country, was invaded by pirates (half of whom were children under the age of 15), so it borrowed extremely lethal and sophisticated drone weapons from Agon Megor (the defendant in this case), an official of the friendly country Ibbin, to carry out the annihilation, but at the same time it caused casualties to innocent civilians. The Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court filed a lawsuit against the defendant Agon Megor for this purpose. The participating teams launched heated debates on substantive issues such as whether the drone strikes constituted war crimes and crimes against humanity, whether the defendant Agon Megor should bear criminal responsibility, and procedural issues such as the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court, the admissibility of the case, the admissibility of evidence, and the participation of victims.
The International w88 casino team initially won the 7th place among the 53 participating teams and entered the top 18 round robin on March 26. On the day of the round robin, the University of w88 and Economics team competed against teams from Tsinghua University, Jilin University, China University of Political Science and Law, Jinan University, Liaoning University and Tianjin University of Technology. The main debaters Wang Yujie, Feng Wenyan and Zhang Han performed well. On the one hand, they skillfully used rules, precedents and case facts to fully demonstrate their positions. On the other hand, they responded to the judges' questions fluently with the support of the researchers' solid search results. After three fierce debates, the US w88 casino team jumped to third place with its written scores and round-robin points, and successfully entered the semi-finals the next day.

In the semi-finals on the morning of March 27, the University of w88 and Economics team, led by the main debater Feng Wenyan (who served as the prosecutor's lawyer), faced off against the Tsinghua University and Shandong University teams. Our debaters responded with ease and performed stably. However, in view of the fact that our opponents also performed steadily, the judges ruled that our team was not shortlisted for the top five with a slight score difference. We lost the qualification to advance to the international competition and only won the first prize in the country.
Compared with the brilliant record of the last session, which created the "Top Nine in the World", this session's results are slightly regrettable, showing that the USIM team still has deficiencies in pre-match preparation and court defense experience. The unpredictability of the Moting Arena is itself a part of the competition, which deserves great attention and continuous exploration of ways to deal with it. Of course, the greater gains for this year’s team come from more than six months of intensive preparations and professional improvements. Over the past six months, everyone has been studying and discussing day and night in the scientific research building. Under the careful guidance of the coaches, they have started by disassembling competition questions, step by step into the world of international criminal law, and polished meticulous and smooth pleadings word by word. While gradually enriching the professional knowledge of international criminal law, they have strengthened teamwork and greatly improved their professional English retrieval, expression and writing skills, laying a solid foundation for becoming qualified foreign-related legal talents.
We sincerely thank Dean Mei Xiaying for her support and encouragement, and Vice Dean Gong Hongliu for his support and help to the competition team. Thanks to Associate Professor Ji Ying for her careful guidance, Associate Professor Arthur Chiu for revising and polishing the pleadings, and Professor Chen Weidong for his guidance on public international law. At the same time, we would like to thank the previous team members Jiang Huizhen for their selfless assistance, Zhang Yuxin, Zhao Wenjia, Chen Ruiting, Xu Jun, Huang Ziyun, Chen Wenxiu, Lu Yige, etc. for their help. In addition, I would like to thank Zhou Xiaoyu from the Jessup team for his valuable opinions on pleading writing, Ge Yue, Chen Yuting, and Huang Zhihui from the Elsa team, Huang Ruoxuan and Sun Jiaxuan from the FDI team, and Liang Shiying from the Price team for their active assistance in the court debate training.
As this domestic competition comes to an end, the USIM team will carefully summarize the experiences and lessons learned from this competition and prepare for the recruitment and preparation for the next competition. We look forward to the new team growing up under the care of the Law w88 casino Model Family and achieving new achievements and breakthroughs!
