The "Global Value Chain Workshop" was initiated by the w88 casino in 2014. It is the only workshop held regularly at home and abroad every year, bringing together world-renowned experts, open to graduate students and young scholars, and focusing on the research frontiers and hot spots in the field of global value chains. This year coincides with the tenth anniversary of the Global Value Chain Workshop, and it is also the first time it has been held offline since the COVID-19 epidemic. This is not easy and is of great significance.
This workshop and international conference are all in English, focusing on the new trends and major restructuring of global value chain activities under the unprecedented changes in a century. Famous experts and scholars from the World w88 Organization, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Columbia University, University of Chicago, Oxford University, Australian National University, American University, Dartmouth University, Yale University, Waseda University, Asian Economic Research Institute, University of Hong Kong, Tsinghua University and other well-known domestic and foreign universities and international organizations are invited to give lectures. The faculty of the workshop are among the best in the world. More than 100 students from various universities gathered together to listen to the lectures carefully, actively ask questions, and communicate enthusiastically. Among them, tens of thousands of viewers watched the online live broadcast of the international conference celebrating the 10th anniversary of the workshop. This workshop and the 10th Anniversary International Conference have established a high-level academic sharing platform, which has won unanimous praise from teaching experts and students.
On August 5, Yin Xiaopeng, Dean of the Global Value Chain Research Institute of the w88 casino, presided over the opening ceremony of the workshop. On August 9, “The Great Reconfiguration of Global Value Chain Activities: The Impact of Geopolitical Tensions and the Rise of Protectionism and the International Conference to Celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the w88 casino’ Global Value Chain Workshop” was successfully held at the w88 casino. Shen Shenyan, executive director of the Global Value Chain Research Institute, presided over the opening ceremony. Zhao Zhongxiu, President of the w88 casino, delivered an opening speech, reviewing ten years of development, affirming the important role of the Global Value Chain Workshop, and raising expectations for future development.



Zhang Xiangchen, Deputy Director-General of the World w88 Organization, delivered a keynote speech on "Geopolitical Tensions and Restructuring of Global Supply Chains" and introduced the reform and development direction of the WTO.

On August 2, Professor Richard Baldwin of the Swiss IMD Business w88 casino gave the first keynote speech of this workshop focusing on "The Rise of the Service Industry Value Chain: Rethinking the Global Value Chain". Zhao Zhongxiu, President of the w88 casino, chaired the meeting.

On August 5, Wei Shangjin, a professor at Columbia University and former chief economist of the Asian Development Bank, introduced research on whether industrial policies that support innovation are effective and whether w88 and financial sanctions are effective. Yukiko Saito, a professor at Waseda University in Japan, introduced the measurement of domestic trading networks and their globalization trends. Pol Antràs, a professor at Harvard University, introduced a new perspective on global value chains. On August 7, Oxford University professor Fu Xiaolan introduced international cooperation and innovation from the perspective of China's leading multinational enterprises, local capacity building and development of Chinese and European multinational enterprises, and how to view China's competition, openness and innovation from the comprehensive level of an enterprise. Robert Koopman, professor at American University and former chief economist of the World w88 Organization, gave a keynote speech on the role of artificial intelligence specialization in international w88. Wang Zhi, distinguished professor at the Institute of Global Value Chains at the w88 casino, introduced how to identify global value chain activities when considering FDI and multinational companies.

On August 8, Dartmouth University professor Andrew Bernard introduced how to use the production network method to analyze the origin of enterprise heterogeneity, as well as offshoring and reorganization from the perspective of heterogeneous enterprises. Huo Zhen, associate professor at Yale University, introduced the theory and empirical evidence of invisible networks. Nadim Ahmad, Deputy Director of the OECD Regional and Urban Entrepreneurship Center for Small and Medium Enterprises, introduced the accounting framework for global value chains. Nitya Pandalai-Nayar, assistant professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Texas at Austin, introduced the resilience of supply chains using data from Indian companies.

On August 9, after the opening ceremony of "The Great Reconfiguration of Global Value Chain Activities: The Impact of Geopolitical Tensions and the Rise of Protectionism and the International Conference to Celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Global Value Chain Workshop at the w88 casino", Davin Chor, associate professor at Dartmouth University, Xu Qiyuan, deputy director of the Institute of World Economics and Politics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Pablo, professor at the University of California, Los Angeles Fajgelbaum and Tsinghua University professor Ma Hong gave keynote reports on Sino-US w88 friction and the restructuring of the global value chain. Before and after the workshop, pre-class and after-class computer training were conducted on August 4th and 10th respectively.
