Xu Zijian: Some opinions on strengthening the construction of teachers’ ethics in colleges and universities

Talent training, scientific research and serving the society are the three major tasks carried out by modern universities. The completion of these three major tasks often takes the construction of disciplines as the leader and the construction of the teaching staff as the basis. The construction of teacher ethics is a very important component. The construction of teachers' ethics is the basic work for the development of colleges and universities and the strengthening of the construction of teaching staff. It is also an important and urgent task at present.

1. Strengthening the construction of teacher ethics is an important task that is beneficial to the development of students, teachers themselves and society

Generally speaking, the functions of teacher ethics are mainly reflected in the following four aspects:

1. Educational function for educational objects. "Observational learning theory" believes that children's behavior is often gradually formed by imitating the role models they believe and admire. The same is true for college students in the growing stage. Their behavior is highly imitable and plastic. Whether we are willing or not, aware or not, teachers' words and deeds are subtly exerting an educational effect, and they have the greatest possibility of becoming "role models" for students.

2. Regulatory function for teacher groups. Teacher ethics can play a role in regulating the working relationships of teachers and regulating the various interpersonal relationships they face. 3. Cultivation function for teachers themselves. The moral quality of teachers will not only affect others, but also affect themselves in turn. 4. Promoting function for social development. The moral construction of teachers is an important part of the moral construction of citizens in our country at this stage. Good teacher ethics can promote the improvement of social moral standards. At the same time, teachers can carry forward their own good moral qualities in society by cultivating students.

2. Factors affecting teachers’ ethics and behavioral manifestations of bad teachers’ ethics

3. Main ways to strengthen the construction of teachers’ ethics

1. Strengthen the construction of rules and regulations. I believe that the most fundamental way to build teachers' ethics is to strengthen the construction of rules and regulations. While establishing and improving various rules and regulations, it is necessary to increase the intensity of the implementation of the system so that the system can have a greater curbing effect on the above-mentioned bad teacher ethics.

2. Strengthen publicity and education. Teachers have had a lofty status in our country since ancient times. Although the work of teachers is hard, their life also has a tranquil, detached and unrestrained side, that is, it has an "elegant" side. To strengthen the construction of teacher ethics, it is necessary to organize teachers to learn advanced culture so that they realize that teaching, educating people and engaging in scientific research is a respected profession and an ideal career choice. Its social status is constantly improving, and it is also a cause worthy of everyone cherishing this opportunity and working hard for it. At the same time, we must vigorously commend outstanding teachers and continuously enhance teachers’ professional sense of honor and responsibility.

3. Care about the lives of teachers and constantly improve working and living conditions. Comrade Deng Xiaoping once said: Not paying attention to material interests is okay for a few advanced elements, but not for the broad masses. It's okay for a while, but not for a long time. The revolutionary spirit is precious. Without the revolutionary spirit, there will be no revolutionary action. However, revolution is based on material interests. If we only talk about the spirit of sacrifice and not material interests, that is idealism. At present, on the one hand, we must vigorously advocate the spirit of self-denial and selfless dedication, and at the same time, we must strive to provide good working and living conditions for teachers so that they can feel at ease and be willing to devote themselves to their current work.

4. Some suggestions for teachers

Stress will have an impact on work performance, both positive and negative; appropriate work pressure can help individuals progress and work better, but excessive pressure will have a negative impact on people's psychology, physiology and behavior. Psychologically, it manifests as: anxiety, depression, neurosis, etc.; Physiologically, it manifests as: high blood pressure, heart disease, physical and mental exhaustion, etc.; Behaviorally, it manifests as: being overly sensitive to criticism, impulsive behavior, reduced work enthusiasm and quality, unwillingness to cooperate with colleagues, and reduced loyalty to the organization, etc. When facing stress, individuals should actively seek ways to relieve stress, such as managing time well, exercising, seeking support from others, or changing jobs, etc., which can relieve stress.

3. Work hard to improve your emotional intelligence. There are a small number of teachers who have good teaching and research abilities, but are not good at handling relationships with students and colleagues, are unwilling to cooperate with others, lack team spirit, and appear to be very isolated, or to act alone. I think this is a concrete manifestation of low emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence includes five aspects: recognizing one's own emotions, properly managing emotions, self-motivation, recognizing other people's emotions, and managing interpersonal relationships. Research shows that emotional intelligence largely determines a person’s behavior and outcomes. In organizational activities, emotional intelligence can be reflected in many aspects such as decision-making methods, attitude towards colleagues, response to challenges, whether you are good at cooperation, whether you are willing to join a team, how to deal with conflicts, and whether you can communicate without barriers. Teachers must consciously continue to learn, practice, and summarize ways and methods to improve their emotional intelligence in actual work, and then continuously improve their overall quality, so that personal development and w88 casino development can be organically combined.
