Yu Hui, graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Nanjing Normal University in 1983, and graduated from the Art History Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1990. In the same year, he worked at the Palace Museum. He is currently a research librarian at the Palace Museum, a member of the National Cultural Relics Appraisal Committee, and a doctoral student at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences University and Zhejiang University. Tutor (part-time), mainly engaged in the identification and research of ancient paintings and calligraphy, striving to introduce multi-disciplinary research methods and results based on the characteristics of ancient paintings. On the basis of identification, he will further explore ancient paintings in terms of history and humanities, social life, artistic inheritance and other aspects, and initially form the theory and method of textual research on images, which is the new book "General Theory of Image Textual Research".

Teacher Yu started this lecture with the question "Is "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" authentic?" He restored the creative background of "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" through literary works of the Northern Song Dynasty, and clearly explained the complex relationship between Song Huizong, Cai Jing, Wang Ximeng and others. He also pursued the historical truth with a rigorous attitude in the study of cultural relics, and made the audience immersed and enlightened while constantly raising and solving problems.Teacher Yu introduced the content composition and origin of the scenery of "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains". Teacher Yu discussed the natural landscape in the painting from the aspects of geological structure and geographical location, including the fusion of Lushan Mountain, the Yangtze River, and the scenery in the south of the Yangtze River and the south of Fujian. Then he showed the delicate brushwork of "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" from the aspects of humanistic scenery such as boats, fishing boats, houses, temples, farmhouses, restaurants, and academies, further exploring the charm of historical scrolls.

In order to have a more complete understanding of "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains", Teacher Yu introduced the author Wang Ximeng's life experience and academic process from the perspective of knowing people and analyzing the world, and explained in detail the spread of "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" after it was given to Cai Jing. From the perspective of this talented painter who died young, he highlighted the unique and significant artistic value of this painting.
