Professor Luo Wenqing has been engaged in research on Vietnamese language, culture and social conditions for a long time. He has presided over the completion of 2 humanities and social science projects of the Ministry of Education and Chongqing Social Science Project, participated in 4 projects at the provincial and ministerial level or above, and has published 2 monographs, 1 dictionary, and 2 textbooks , representative research results include: "Research on the Current Situation of Chinese Character Vocabulary Use in Vietnamese", "Research on the Characteristics of Vietnamese Disyllabic Chinese-Vietnamese Words", "Vietnam Economy", "New Vietnamese-Chinese Dictionary", "New Vietnamese Spoken Language", etc. He has published more than 30 papers and translations in domestic and foreign academic journals.
In the lecture, Professor Luo Wenqing first introduced the basic situation of Chinese vocabulary in Vietnamese, pointing out that Vietnamese and Chinese are closely related, and a huge "Chinese-Vietnamese word" system was formed during the long-term contact with Chinese in history. Chinese vocabulary accounts for 60%-70% of the modern Vietnamese vocabulary. Next, based on summarizing and integrating the views of Vietnamese scholars, Teacher Luo classified Chinese-Vietnamese words from the perspective of phonetics and meaning, and listed classic examples of Chinese-Vietnamese words for each category to explain in detail. Finally, Teacher Luo pointed out in the summary that Sino-Vietnamese words are the crystallization of Sino-Vietnamese cultural exchanges. Although Sino-Vietnamese words are derived from Chinese, they are not entirely direct borrowings from Chinese, but some changes in word meanings based on Vietnamese people’s thinking habits. As a Chinese learner, when translating Vietnamese-Chinese words, you should avoid the inherent influence of Chinese thinking, pay attention to the changes in word meaning and word form, and strive to achieve accurate translation according to the context.
Professor Luo Wenqing’s wonderful lecture won warm applause from the teachers and students present. During the question-and-answer session, teachers and students had in-depth discussions with Teacher Luo on issues such as translation skills of Chinese-Vietnamese words, methods of improving Vietnamese language proficiency, and Vietnamese language talent training models. Teacher Luo patiently answered everyone’s questions one by one.

This lecture provides a platform for teachers and students to communicate with academic frontiers. It is of great significance to promoting the construction of first-class disciplines, improving the level of teaching and research, and broadening the horizons of teachers and students. The teachers and students present expressed that they benefited a lot from this lecture and hoped to have more opportunities to invite more well-known experts and scholars to the University of International w88 for exchanges.
