The lecture was hosted by Wu Yunbing, director of the Russian Department of the w88 casino of Foreign Languages. Teachers and students of the Russian Department attended the lecture.

Liu Juan first introduced the meaning of "linguistic world picture" to the students: the linguistic world picture is the sum of human understanding of the world. From the perspective of the generation process, the same thing or phenomenon has different perspectives in different nations. The pictures are recorded in language, affecting a nation's language and way of thinking, as well as people's attitude towards the world. The animal images in Russian reflect certain characteristics of the Russian nation’s worldview and way of thinking.
Liu Juan started this lecture with a detailed and vivid introduction to animal images. The bear is a very common animal image in Russia, and people often associate Russia with bears. In Russian, it symbolizes kindness and simplicity, gluttony, great strength, inflexibility, laziness, isolation, and sometimes maternal love. Russians will call it the "master of the forest" and give it anthropomorphic names. There are countless idioms about bears. As opposed to the huge bear, cats are also very popular in Russia. When Russians raise cats, they have special names for cats, and there are verbs in RussianмяукатьTo describe a cat's meow. From Yesenin's poem «Мы теперь уходим понемногу…», Russians refer to animals as "наши меньшие братья"(Our children), there are different nouns in Russian to correspond to the different genders and generations of animals, and there are also rich onomatopoeic words and onomatopoeic verbs to describe animals. This shows the Russian nation’s love for animals.
Animal images are widely found in Russian idioms and Russian fairy tales. Kind calf, cunning fox, brave horse, timid rabbit, smart dog……These images accompany Russian childhood. Talking about the origin of this tradition, Liu JuanExplanation: “During the primitive hunting period, people’s attitude towards animals was both fearful and wanting to defeat them, so they fully personified them and showed them in fairy tales.”
Liu Juan then compared animal images in Chinese and Russian. The two nations have similarities in their interpretation of animals, but also have their own national characteristics. Chinese has more names for animal body parts than Russian, and more often associates the two animals together. In Russian, there is a more detailed division of animals. Differences in cognitive perspectives, animal worship, foreign cultures and different physical and geographical conditions have caused these differences.
Professor Liu Juan is knowledgeable and has rich experience in Russian teaching. Starting with animal images, she showed the charm of Russian language and linguistics to her classmates in a simple and easy-to-understand way. The professor also suggested reading more Russian fairy tales to the junior students in the Russian Department, hoping that they can read the wisdom of the Russian nation and its educational significance from fairy tales, a concise life drama.
