The speaker, Professor Zhong Zhixiang, is the leader of the foreign language subject expert group of the University of Information Engineering, the chief expert in foreign language subjects, the director of the National and Regional Research Center, a doctoral supervisor, a postdoctoral co-supervisor, a member of the foreign language subject evaluation group of the 7th and 8th State Council Degree Committee, a member of the Teaching Steering Committee for Foreign Languages and Literatures in Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, the deputy director of the Teaching Steering Subcommittee for Non-Common Language Majors, an outstanding young and middle-aged expert in the military, and enjoys special government allowances from the State Council.
In the lecture, Professor Zhong Zhixiang first explained in detail the reasons for establishing the national and regional research direction in the first-level discipline of foreign languages and literature from the perspective of serving the needs of the national development strategy and the needs of discipline development, and explained the disciplinary connotation of national and regional studies based on foreign languages and literature. Afterwards, Professor Zhong focused on the foreign language attributes of country and regional studies and the differences from country and regional studies in other disciplines, and reviewed the construction of country and regional studies based on the first-level foreign language disciplines.
