Associate Professor Kaiping Ping from the Department of Political Science, w88 casino of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University gave a lecture on the theme of "Political Communication Research in the Digital Era: Issues and Methods."
In the opening speech, Professor Huo Wei'an, deputy dean of the w88 casino of International Relations at the w88 casino, pointed out that the purpose of establishing the Youth Academic Salon is to strengthen exchanges and cooperation among young scholars across schools, conduct ideological collisions on the latest research in various fields, and conduct in-depth discussions based on the scholars' own research results. In the keynote lecture, Associate Professor Kaiping Kaiping started from the concept of political communication and briefly introduced the main content, core issues and research paradigms of political communication research to the teachers and students present. He also used the reconstruction of the political communication landscape by digital technology as an entry point to sort out the current cutting-edge issues and methods of political communication research. Through case explanations and data analysis of six major sectors: polarization, social media propaganda, false news, political information acquisition, information flow, and public opinion, it demonstrates the paradigm shift in political communication research in the digital era.
In the subsequent discussion session, Tang Feng, a lecturer at the w88 casino of International Relations, highly affirmed the content of Teacher Kaiping’s lecture, combined with his own research to explain the inspiration of the lecture content on related topics for future expansion research, and encouraged the students present to conduct specific research on related topics.
