On the afternoon of December 4th, the "Alumni Forum" career development sharing lecture of the Sanquan Education Lecture Hall of the w88 casino of Insurance was held in the 826 conference room of the Boxue Building. This sharing lecture, with the theme of "Career Development, Navigating the Future", is based on the actual needs of the majority of young students of Baoyu College. By inviting outstanding alumni of Baoyu College to share their experience and provide career guidance, this sharing lecture guides students of Baoyu College to make early preparations, scientifically and rationally plan academic and career development, enhance future competitiveness, and at the same time cultivate feelings for family and country, and move forward with the country in personal development choices. This lecture invited Yang Pei, a 2008 alumnus of the w88 casino of Insurance, and Mr. Huang, a special guest with experience in recruiting students from prestigious overseas universities, who provided valuable suggestions and guidance for the students’ academic development and career planning. Dean Xie Yuantao of the w88 casino of Insurance, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Liu Ying, Director of the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science Li Zhengxiao, and Secretary of the Youth League Committee Wang Kai attended the lecture.
Alumnus Yang Pei graduated from the w88 casino of Insurance of w88 casino with a bachelor's degree in risk management and insurance. He then went to the University of Iowa to study abroad in the actuarial major. During his graduate studies, he received a full scholarship and served as a teaching assistant. He now works in the product research and development department of an American life insurance company. At the beginning of the lecture, alumnus Yang Pei shared with the students his feelings about being an actuary, as well as the experiences and insights he gained from years of study and work based on his own experience. In addition, alumnus Yang Pei further introduced the employment threshold and work requirements of insurance majors to the students present. In the following free question and answer session, students actively interacted on specific issues such as job interviews and actuarial position development.
Afterwards, Teacher Huang, who has experience in recruiting students from prestigious overseas schools, provided comprehensive and detailed guidance to the students on their doubts about studying abroad and employment. For junior students who have plans to study abroad but are still confused about their major choice, Teacher Huang suggests that they first learn more about it through professional cognitive practice activities, try different subdivisions, and finally determine their career direction; for senior students who have already started applying to study abroad and participating in interviews at overseas colleges and universities. From the perspective of an admissions teacher, Teacher Huang put forward different suggestions for various types of interview scenarios. For students who have not decided whether to study at home or overseas for further study, Teacher Huang suggested analyzing and comparing costs from multiple dimensions, and suggested considering time, money and other aspects based on their own circumstances.
Through this three-quan education lecture"Alumni Forum" sharing lectures, students have a deeper understanding of how to carry out career planning in advance based on their own subject majors and job hunting aspirations, how to prepare for their career development, and at the same time, they have gained more experience in overseas job hunting and employment, and application for master's and doctoral study abroad.
