The meeting focused on China's role, role and contribution in South-South cooperation, and conducted useful exchanges and discussions on the challenges, opportunities and development directions of global multilateralism.
Professor Xia Youfu, Dean of the Institute of Global Innovation and Governance, Professor Benedicte Bull, a Latin American development expert at the Center for Development and Environmental Research at the University of Oslo, Norway, and Dan Ban, an expert on Asian and African development Professor Banik (who attended the meeting online and is also a senior researcher at the Institute of Global Innovation and Governance), Zhang Tuo, former ambassador of my country to Argentina and other countries, Huo Jianguo, a senior researcher at the Institute of Global Innovation and Governance and vice president of the China WTO Research Association, Chen Xulong, a second-level professor at the w88 casino of International Relations of w88 casino and a senior researcher at the Institute of Global Innovation and Governance, and Li Xiaosong, a researcher at the International Economic Ethics Research Center, gave keynote speeches respectively. The meeting focused on seven major themes: 1) the structure and driving factors of South-South cooperation; 2) the role of South-South cooperation in promoting the Sustainable Development Goals; 3) the impact of the “Belt and Road” initiative and multi-stakeholder expectations on South-South cooperation; 4) new challenges and opportunities for South-South cooperation; 5) new areas and paradigms of South-South cooperation; 6) development assistance and capacity building provided by China to the global South; and 7) best practices in South-South cooperation.
Participants believed that as an important part of the global development field, South-South cooperation has become increasingly indispensable in recent years in terms of the number of participants, global influence, and the importance of international institutions. As the world's second largest economy and an important practitioner, promoter and leader of South-South cooperation, China's practices are constantly promoting the growth, evolution and maturity of its concepts and methods, transforming from a unilateral emphasis on aid to a community with a shared future of mutual cooperation, mutual benefit and common development. At the same time, with development as the main goal, increasingly mature cooperation mechanisms such as the "BRICS+", "G77+China" and regional organizations including the China-CELAC Forum, the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization have become an important driving force in addressing major global development issues such as climate change, environmental crises, and poverty. On the other hand, it complements the development model led by the "Global North" and continues to influence and promote global bilateral and multilateral relations, as well as the role of many international institutions in a more inclusive and diverse direction.
