w88 casino News(Reporter Li Fang Photography Li Huguo)How to identify China’s international identity? How can China grasp the pulse of the times and follow the trend of the times? At 18:00 on April 10, 2015, in Conference Room 503 of the Annex Building of the Scientific Research Building, Ren Jiantao, professor of the w88 casino of International Relations of Renmin University of China, Distinguished Professor of the Yangtze River Scholars of the Ministry of Education, and a very influential scholar in the fields of political science and administration in my country, visited the 8th High-end International Forum of w88 casino to position China's international identity from an international perspective. Dean Dai Changzheng and Secretary Xu Song of the college attended the forum.

Dean Dai’s speech
Dai Changzhengyuan said that Professor Ren is a very influential political scientist in our country. International relations, diplomacy and international politics belong to the first-level disciplines of political science, and the inner political theory of political philosophy is the source of water and the roots of trees. Professor Ren’s speech starting from the core concept of national identity in political science is very worth looking forward to. The holding of this high-end forum,Provides teachers and students of the w88 casino with a platform to expand their horizons and an opportunity to get in touch with cutting-edge information.
Amidst warm applause, Professor Ren began his lecture. Professor Ren first proposed the theme of this forum: China’s international identity. There are two reasons for determining this theme: First, China's international identity continues to be disordered. This awareness of wandering between complacency and self-pathos will distort China's international image in the international community. This is an urgent problem that must be solved for a rising power. Second, China has tilted the balance of internal and external affairs. For a long time, we have focused on internal affairs, especially in the economic field. This is closely related to the country's weak position in the world system since the late Qing Dynasty. And when the country opened its door to reform and opening up in 1978, we rapidly moved towards the world. Due to the rapid growth of GDP and the expansion of the total economic volume, when we need to position ourselves as a big country in the international system, this rapid economic development has left us with no ideas, no resources, no talent, and no skills to enter the international community. This puts us in a difficult situation when we take a back seat to domestic affairs and focus on gathering the country's development resources through international affairs. Therefore, China's domestic and foreign affairs are in a very unbalanced state.

Professor Ren speaks
Professor Ren talked about some of his understanding of China’s international identity. First, the reason why we need to emphasize the identification of China’s international identity today is because the background conditions have undergone major changes. Over the past 150 years or so, China's international identity has experienced two roller coasters. By the mid-eighteenth century, China's international self-identity was stable, but its international identity began to experience a roller coaster ride. Until the mid-19th century, China's international identity changed from the strongest to the weakest. This roller coaster ride left us in a state of self-deprecation until 1978. A century later we are on another roller coaster ride and today we are at the top of the second ride. We abandon our inferiority complex, although the psychological undertone of sadness remains. If we are still dealing with Sino-Japanese relations today on the basis of 1945, it will obviously be too outdated. At this time we should realize that when the second roller coaster starts to fall, is it a gentle fall or a vertical fall? This is a test for China today. Second, China’s international identity requires three important pivots: domestic politics, inter-state politics and international politics. Among them, inter-state politics refers to bilateral international politics between two countries, while international politics refers to multilateral international politics between multiple countries. Third, China’s recognition of its international identity has an impact on national policies.
Professor Ren emphasized that the background of China’s international identity recognition is very complex. In the face of such a huge international community, any generalization made by any scholar cannot avoid overgeneralization. The reason is that understanding the international society in today's international context, then looking at this country's international experience and self-identification, and how others position you, and then incorporating historical factors, is a very complex and vast project.
After introducing the background, Professor Ren turned to the process that leads to the disorder of international identity. He first started with clues and summarized them into three stages. The first stage is overwhelming. In the late Qing Dynasty, we were at a loss because of the selfishness of power. The high-pressure rule of the Manchus for more than two hundred years caused our nation to become a low-IQ nation, and we did not realize that the construction of the country was related to every member of the country. So why are we at a loss? Because the research, understanding and summary of modern national changes are always dominated by the strong personal preferences of the observers. In the second stage, we fell into the international identity construction of countries eager for quick success and instant benefits. This eagerness for quick success has been around since the late Qing Dynasty. The third stage is to determine China’s goal of building a modern country.
How to identify China’s international identity? Professor Ren said that China’s international expectations must first be appropriately lowered. The second is to lose China’s status as a student in international relations. Developing internal strength is very crucial to lay a solid foundation for modern transformation and pour cold water on our enthusiasm to enter the international community and set an example. At the same time, we must strengthen our soft and hard strength and reserve the resources to be an international leader. Finally, it is necessary to shape the international image with a realistic attitude.

Student questions
The students present actively participated in the question-and-answer session. A girl from the International Business w88 casino raised a question about the non-alignment policy, and Professor Ren patiently answered it. Another boy from the w88 casino of International Relations had an in-depth discussion with Professor Ren on rebuilding social order.

Dean Dai Changzheng summarized this forum.Dai Changzhengemphasized that Professor Ren’s lectures have greatly inspired our Institute of International Relations to study domestic and foreign political issues. We first need to learn how Professor Ren clarifies the core concepts, and around this concept we need to use logical means to deduce and express the ideas. Secondly, in research, it is very important to determine a good topic. Major and important topics always guide us towards in-depth thinking.
Through this lecture, the students from the University of w88 and Economic Cooperation have a clearer understanding of the uniqueness of our country in the international landscape, and thus deeply think about China's future status and sustainable development path. The holding of this high-end forum allowed the audience to appreciate the style and strategic talents of academic masters, and broadened their international horizons.
