International cooperation practice in China-US negotiation classroom continues

w88 casino News Network (provided by the w88 casino of International Relations)Based on the University of International w88 and Economics, looking at the world. Have a global perspective and uphold Chinese feelings. In recent years, the International Negotiation Class of teachers Zhao Hongyan and Wang Haibin of the w88 casino of International Relations of w88 casino has cooperated with the Negotiation Class of the University of Iowa in the United States to explore and practice "Chinese and American students taking the same class". It has been held for 7 years, with one round every year. In this issue, the practice of cross-cultural negotiation between Chinese and American students continues in full swing, and both sides have achieved fruitful results.

Before the cross-cultural negotiation exercise began, teachers from China and the United States introduced the basic information of the negotiating parties and the negotiation culture to the students, ensuring that the students would follow the principles of mutual respect and equal communication as the premise. Negotiations take various forms such as emails and videos, which increase the cross-cultural negotiation experience for students on both sides.

The cross-cultural negotiation between Chinese and American students will last for 10 days from April 10 to April 19, 2024. Before the formal negotiations began, students from both China and the United States briefly introduced themselves to each other via email and expressed their expectations for this cross-cultural negotiation exercise.

Afterwards, both parties will prepare for their own negotiations based on existing simulated negotiation cases. The members of our negotiation team finalize their own positions, bottom lines, negotiation skills, etc. among themselves.

After the negotiation, the Chinese and American students communicated with each other and summarized each other’s feelings about the negotiation. Through this negotiation, students from both parties not only gained a new understanding of knowledge, but also gained a deeper understanding of cross-cultural exchanges and cooperation.

The following is a partial review and summary of our classmates after the negotiation:

(Part summary excerpt)

At a time when our country is increasingly integrating into global development and playing the role of a major country, having an international perspective and cross-cultural communication skills are abilities that every University of w88 student should have, and the "real" Sino-US cross-cultural negotiations in International Negotiation provide students with a very valuable exchange opportunity. What you learn on paper is ultimately shallow. Without practical support, no matter how much theoretical knowledge you have, you will not be able to apply it flexibly. Through this exercise, students from both sides of the ocean broke through the limitations of time and space conditions and experienced cross-cultural negotiation first-hand. From negotiation preparation, formal negotiation to final review and summary, every exchange was a rare experience for both parties. After the negotiation, both parties not only gained knowledge consolidation, but also became friends through further mutual understanding, sharing culture, opinions and feelings.

Cross-cultural negotiation in the Sino-US classroom is the epitome of the University of International w88’s people actively broadening their horizons and enhancing their abilities. I believe that in the future, there will be more international exchange platforms and opportunities waiting for our students to explore and practice, so as to truly become high-end international talents with a sense of family and country and an international perspective!
