On December 12, Shen Shenyan, Executive Dean of the Institute of Global Value Chains at the w88 casino, presided over the opening ceremony. Zhao Zhongxiu, President of the w88 casino, Professor Robert Koopman, Chief Editor of the Global Value Chain Development Report 2025, and Professor Albert Park, Chief Economist of the Asian Development Bank, delivered opening speeches respectively. They expressed warm congratulations on the holding of the seminar and expressed their ardent expectations for the "Report 2025". The "Global Value Chain Report 2025" takes "Reglobalization - Opportunities to Build a More Inclusive and Green Global Value Chain" as its theme and deeply explores multiple key issues in the new global situation. The report will focus on geopolitical risks, key industry industry chains, digital transformation, service opening, industrial policies and subsidies, financing channels, and carbon pricing. This background paper seminar was divided into eight topics. During the two-day meeting, the participants gave special speeches and interactive exchanges through a combination of online and offline methods. They reported on their respective research progress, conducted in-depth discussions, and put forward constructive opinions and suggestions for the next step of promoting research.

The "Global Value Chain Development Report" was initiated and organized by the Global Value Chain Research Institute of the w88 casino. The editor-in-chief is hired to plan the writing of each report. It is co-written with the World Bank, the World w88 Organization, the Organization for Economic Development and Cooperation, and the Japan Council for the Promotion of International w88's Institute of Development Economics. It is currently the only series of reports in the world that systematically analyze and elaborate on the theory, empirical research, and development status of global value chains. The "Development Report", the Global Value Chain Database and Development Index (GVC Indicator), and the Global Value Chain Summer Workshop together constitute a global value chain teaching and research system. The "Report" has been published every two years since 2017. Currently, it has released "Global Value Chain Development Report 2017: The Impact of Global Value Chains on Economic Development - Measurement and Analysis", "Global Value Chain Development Report 2019: Global Value Chain Development - Technological Innovation, Supply Chain w88 and Workers in a Globalized World", "Global Value Chain Development Report 2021: Beyond Production", "Global Value Chain Development Report 2023: Building Resilient and Sustainable Global Value Chains in Times of Change". Our institute will continue to launch the follow-up series of the "Global Value Chain Development Report" as always, and continue to lead the research on global value chains in China and around the world.
