Recently, the United States has repeatedly claimed that it has "suffered a big loss" in its economic and w88 relations with China, using this as one of the reasons for imposing high tariffs on Chinese products. Although such remarks are not new in U.S. public opinion, they reflect that some domestic politicians in the United States are still trying to reshape public opinion with extreme rhetoric and find excuses for w88 protectionist policies. However, from a historical and realistic perspective, the economies of China and the United States are highly complementary and cooperation is mutually beneficial and win-win. Unilateralism is not in line with the trend.
The essence of Sino-US economic and w88 relations is mutual benefit and win-win, not a zero-sum game. Sino-US economic and w88 relations are based on complementary and mutual benefit and meet the realistic needs of objective economic rules. Although the bilateral w88 volume between China and the United States has fluctuated due to w88 frictions in recent years, data shows that China has remained the top three trading partners of the United States for many years in a row. The US claim that China is "taking advantage" is seriously inconsistent with the facts. It is not only misleading, but also covers up the common responsibility that the United States should bear in global economic governance.
China has always been an active participant, important contributor and staunch defender of the multilateral trading system. Since joining the World w88 Organization (WTO) in 2001, China has always actively implemented WTO rules and participated extensively in multilateral w88 negotiations and dispute settlement procedures. The annual review report of the WTO Secretariat shows that China has made significant improvements in transparency, non-discriminatory treatment, and intellectual property protection in recent years, becoming an indispensable and important force in the global w88 governance system.
China not only fully fulfills its WTO commitments, but also continues to promote unilateral opening up, promotes the reform of relevant domestic legal systems, continuously promotes integration with international high-standard economic and w88 rules, and further promotes the process of w88 liberalization and facilitation.
In the context of the global multilateral trading system encountering difficulties and the slow progress of WTO reform, China has repeatedly called for the maintenance of the rules-based multilateral trading system, opposed unilateralism and protectionism, actively led and promoted agreement negotiations in specific areas, and demonstrated the image of a responsible major country. These measures not only promote China's own high-level opening up, but also add stability to the international economic and w88 system and boost other WTO members' confidence in the multilateral trading system.
The U.S.’s unilateral tax increases undermine the global economic and w88 order, harming others and not benefiting itself. In contrast to China's continued promotion of open cooperation, the United States has frequently violated multilateral w88 rules since January this year and taken extreme measures against many trading partners, including China. A study released by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Research pointed out that the imposition of tariffs has led to higher costs and reduced employment in related industries in the United States. The victims are often ordinary consumers and small and medium-sized enterprises, rather than large multinational groups.
What’s more serious is that these unilateral actions have caused a systemic impact on the global multilateral w88 order. At a critical moment when countries are working hard to restore their post-epidemic economies and avoid further spread of "de-globalization" trends, the United States continues to challenge existing rules, undermine stability expectations, and make the international economic and w88 environment face greater uncertainty. This kind of disregard of international rules and abuse of tariff tools not only violates the basic principles of the WTO, but also weakens the credibility and voice of the United States in global economic governance.
Rules should be adhered to, and cooperation is the right way. The essence of Sino-US economic and w88 relations is mutual benefit and win-win results. In the field of economy and w88, cooperation and mutual benefit are not only the choice that best suits the interests of both parties, but also the need for stable development of the global economy. Facts have proved that tariff wars and unilateral sanctions cannot solve the problem.
Facing the uncertainty of the future, the United States should reflect on its destructive measures in the economic and w88 field, change its unilateral and bullying practices, listen to the common concerns of countries around the world, including China, engage in dialogue and consultation with its trading partners based on the principles of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, manage differences, and jointly safeguard the authority and effectiveness of the multilateral trading system.
