The "Shanghai Good Book Exhibition" and "The Most Beautiful Book Poster Exhibition" jointly organized by the Shanghai Books and Periodicals Distribution Industry Association and China Book Import and Export Shanghai Co., Ltd. were recently held at the Business Confucius Institute at Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia. The event attracted representatives from the publishing, cultural and educational circles in China and Australia.
He Wenquan, head of the Shanghai Publishing delegation, said at the opening ceremony that he hopes that through the exhibition, Australian readers can experience the cultural charm and professional standards of Shanghai Publishing and expand the space for publishing cooperation between the two places.
Professor Colin Colak, Director of the Confucius Institute at Victoria University, said that this double exhibition not only enriched the cultural activities of the Confucius Institute, but also provided a window for local teachers, students and the community to understand the Chinese publishing industry.
The "Shanghai Good Books" selection is jointly sponsored by the Shanghai Publishing Association, the Shanghai Publishing House Management Association and the Shanghai Books and Periodicals Distribution Industry Association. Every year, hundreds of outstanding books with social and economic benefits are selected from hundreds of books, covering fields such as humanities and social sciences, literature and art, and children's popular science, to showcase the cultural depth and innovative vitality of Shanghai's publishing industry.
The "Shanghai Good Books" exhibited in Melbourne this time not only includes the selected works from 2024 to the first half of 2025, but also selects a number of high-quality books in recent years, with rich content and diverse themes, attracting many local readers to stop and browse.
The "Most Beautiful Book Poster Exhibition" held at the same time has become an important brand event of Shanghai Publishing Design since its launch in 2018. This exhibition displays selected works from the past seven years, covering literature, social sciences, children, art and other genres. These posters use visual language to show the beauty of books and become an important bridge between readers and books.
After the exhibition, all the books on display will be donated to the Confucius Institute for Business at the University of Victoria and the Australian Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce for borrowing by Confucius Institute students and local community members.
