Under the wave of digital economy, the deep integration of culture and technology has gone beyond simple technological superposition and has become an important force in promoting the high-quality development of the cultural industry. The Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China proposed to "promote the integration of culture and science and technology, promote digital intelligence empowerment and informatization transformation of cultural construction, and develop new cultural formats", which pointed out the way forward for the development of my country's cultural industry during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period. From a domestic perspective, building a cultural and technological power has entered a critical period. The people's demand for cultural products has surged, and the cultural industry needs to use technology to improve its quality. From an international perspective, the focus of the game between major powers has shifted from "technology + industry" to "technology + industry + culture." Europe and the United States and other countries still have certain technological advantages in the fields of digital film and television, virtual experience, etc. my country urgently needs to accelerate the upgrading of the cultural industry, stimulate the cultural innovation and creativity of the entire nation, and seize the high-end market of the global cultural industry. Currently, culture and technology are the core carriers of international communication, and the deep integration of the two will become a new engine for the high-quality development of my country's cultural industry.
The integration of culture and technology forms a "symbiotic system". The development of science and technology has provided favorable conditions for cultural innovation. Cutting-edge technologies such as big data, blockchain, and artificial intelligence are reshaping the production, consumption, and dissemination of culture in an unprecedented manner. Cultural innovation creates a soul of value for the development of science and technology. Chinese culture, with its profound value connotation and humanistic spirit, provides cultural nourishment for the renewal and iteration of science and technology. The two-way empowerment of culture and technology forms an organic whole and jointly promotes the high-quality development of the cultural industry.
Compared with the traditional industrial integration model, the integration of culture and technology presents distinctive features. First, the breadth and depth of technological empowerment are increasingly increasing. New technologies such as big data, blockchain, and artificial intelligence have deeply intervened in the cultural industry chain, creative tools have undergone revolutionary changes, and generative artificial intelligence and intelligent algorithms have become more widely used. Facing the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, the integration of culture and science and technology faces both many opportunities and severe challenges. In recent years, my country's digital technology has entered the stage of large-scale application, creating good conditions for the integration of culture and technology. At the same time, the "culture +" model continues to expand, and cross-border integration continues to generate new business formats. However, the binary opposition between "technological determinism" and "cultural determinism" still exists. In the context of accelerated iteration of science and technology, excessive pursuit of the "advancement" of science and technology and neglect of the "humanity" of cultural values will lead to a lack of in-depth exploration and innovative expression of culture in cultural products. In order to transform opportunities into development momentum and resolve challenges into breakthrough opportunities, it is imperative to explore systematic and standardized practical paths for the integration of culture and technology.
In terms of cultural innovation, we should abandon the "technology first" mindset, focus on cultural value integration, develop advanced socialist culture, carry forward revolutionary culture, inherit China's excellent traditional culture, and use the power of science and technology to refine cultural symbols. In 2022, the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics relied on digital technology to refine a cultural logo that combines traditional aesthetics, national image and modern competitive spirit, namely the "Twenty-Four Solar Terms", "Water of the Yellow River" and "Five Rings of Ice and Snow". The core values of socialism are a concentrated expression of the spirit of contemporary China. The integration of culture and technology must be guided by the core socialist values, integrate the spirit of the times into technological products, and use algorithms to select positive cultural works and promote them.
In terms of technological empowerment, through the human-machine collaborative creation model, we promote the transformation of cultural production from factor-driven to innovation-driven. An innovation ecosystem with diverse collaboration and dynamic circulation is the key to promoting the healthy operation of cultural content production, technology development, market application, and social value. To build this system, we should deeply cultivate humanistic care and give full play to the advantages of scientific and technological innovation. We should not only focus on creating new business formats to transform the achievements of technological empowerment into new growth points for cultural consumption; we should also use business format innovation as a breakthrough to achieve the organic integration of traditional cultural resources and modern scientific and technological means, thereby meeting the people's diverse cultural needs while achieving an upgrade in cultural consumption satisfaction.
In terms of institutional guarantees, the institutional cornerstone for the integration of culture and science and technology should be further consolidated. Promote balanced regional development by breaking resource barriers and promoting the circulation of factors, exploring differentiated paths based on the endowments of various regions, and cultivating cultural and technological industrial clusters with unique identities. Accelerate the construction of the national cultural big data system, systematically promote the transformation of high-quality cultural resources into digital forms, improve the entire chain protection system for intellectual property rights, and build a solid security barrier for industrial development.
The integration of culture and technology is a profound industrial revolution that injects strong impetus into the high-quality development of the cultural industry through technology-empowered content, content-driven innovation, and innovation-led development.
