[Editor’s Note]The Graduate Student Support Teaching Corps is a national demonstration project of the Youth Volunteer Poverty Alleviation Relay Plan jointly organized and implemented by the Youth League Central Committee and the Ministry of Education.w88 casino sinceSince 1999, more than 220 volunteers have been recruited to carry out teaching activities in Hualong, Qinghai, Haiyan, Qinghai, Yuzhong, Gansu, Jingyuan, Gansu, Huining, Wujiaqu, Xinjiang, and Mengla, Yunnan. In the summer of 2019, the 21st postgraduate teaching support group of w88 casino went to the western part of the motherland and began a one-year volunteer service. Over the past year, they have been unswervingly committed, rooted in the grassroots, and used practical actions to write their own unique youth stories and passionate feelings. In the process of fighting against the COVID-19 epidemic and helping to eradicate poverty, they were brave enough to take on responsibilities and were not afraid of difficulties. In a short period of time, they did one thing after another that they will never forget. Now, as their service period is about to expire, the Propaganda Department of the Party Committee and the Youth League Committee of the w88 casino jointly launched"Story of Supporting Teaching"Column, share with everyone the unique youthful power of University of w88 and Economics students.
In the summer of 2018, a TV series called "The Most Beautiful Youth" was aired on CCTV channel. It tells the story of more than a dozen graduates from all over the country who responded to the national call to plant trees in the Saihanba Desert in the 1960s. Over the past half century, these aspiring young people have overcome difficulties and obstacles, built thousands of forests on the desert, and created a great feat of changing nature. Not only did they achieve the national goal of preventing wind and sand and conserving water sources, but they also left an unforgettable life experience for themselves.
That period of burning passion deeply infected me. Graduation is around the corner. How I wish I could devote my youth like the young people in the play. Go to the west, go to the place where the motherland needs it most! one year laterIn the summer of 2019, as a member of the 21st graduate student teaching group of the w88 casino, I finally embarked on a journey to teach in Wujiaqu, Xinjiang, outside the Great Wall.

After arriving at the service location, I was greeted by Wujiaqu No. 1 Primary w88 casinoMore than 270 second grade children. Although I had gone to Qinghai to provide short-term teaching and served as a tutor, facing so many lively and lovely little guys, I did not dare to neglect at all and started to prepare with all my energy. Before w88 casino started, I went to the director of the Moral Education Office, the director of the Teaching Office and other seniors to learn from them. After w88 casino started, I took the initiative to give trial lectures in the teaching and research fellows’ classes and listened humbly to their opinions and suggestions on teaching techniques. Before teaching, I carefully designed the classroom teaching links, carefully wrote lesson plans, and produced supporting courseware, striving to make the course content rich, focused, and interesting. Hard work paid off, and the science class I taught quickly became the most anticipated and favorite class for the children.

Recognition from students is the highest evaluation for a teacher, and it also prompts me to observe the classroom in more detail and pay attention to the different growth needs of each student. Second-grade students are in a stage of rapid physical and mental development, and there is a big gap in their cognitive levels. The more thorny problem is that some students lack curiosity, lack interest in learning, and even fail to develop good study habits. At this time, I began to truly realize that there were too many more important things that needed my attention besides imparting knowledge.
Many in the second gradeAmong the "naughty" little guys, Zhaokun, a little boy from Class 21, is one of the top ones. He made small movements in class, walked around randomly, answered questions loudly, disturbed other students in class, etc. A series of behaviors caused many teachers a headache. But to me, Zhaokun’s repeated violations of classroom discipline seemed to scream out loudly about a desire for attention from others. For Zhaokun at this stage, knowledge-based learning is undoubtedly insignificant, so why not give him a legitimate opportunity to stand in the spotlight? In the next science class, two children who volunteered to perform experiments failed and returned home. "Who will try again?" No one in the audience said anything. I "accidentally" pointed Zhaokun to the podium and patiently guided him step by step in taking the reagents, stirring, heating, and adding drops of pigment. As the beautiful colorful flowers bloomed in the test tube, the children in the audience burst into excited cheers. At that time, Zhaokun seemed to be covered with a layer of golden light. He was smiling, confident and proud.
How much change have these efforts helped Zhaokun make? I have no idea. But when I hear other teachers exclaimWhen I asked "How did you cure him!", I knew that such efforts were not in vain, and change really happened. And this is just a fragment of the efforts of supporting education.
As a member of the research team, I deeply feel that the one-year service period is too short for the lovely children. But what is gratifying is that these children also have equally lovely teachers. In my eyes, the objects of volunteer education are not only the children, but also the local teachers who will stay with them for a long time.
During the training time in the administrative office, I did my best to share the work with other teachers inside and outside the department. I also gave full play to my advantages in computer technology, helping the old teachers around me to become familiar with computer operating procedures, and helping the young teachers around me to innovate office software operating skills. This greatly improved the work processing efficiency of the academic affairs department and saved everyone a lot of precious time and energy.
“Without Hua Ye, we wouldn’t have been able to figure out these data even if we stayed up all night!” Director Li of the General Affairs Office’s words strengthened my idea: Volunteer education should be simple and pure. Being able to contribute even a little bit of my meager strength to the motherland and the local area, living up to the original mission, and not wasting our passionate youth is a matter of pride.
