[Editor's Note] In order to thoroughly implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the National Education Conference and other conferences, and comprehensively promote the construction project of teachers in the new era of schools, according to the "Central Committee of the Communist Party of China" According to the requirements of the State Council’s Opinions on Comprehensively Deepening the Reform of the Construction of the Teacher Team in the New Era, which “strengthen teachers’ participation in social practice and promote teachers’ full understanding of the Party’s conditions, the country’s conditions, social conditions, and the people’s conditions”, the Party Committee’s Teacher Affairs Department/Human Resources Division organized a national conditions education for new teachers in 2020 to guide young teachers to expand their horizons, grow their talents, make contributions, and serve the motherland while serving the society. In late September 2020, 32 new teachers went to four practice sites in Qingdao, Shandong, Shenzhen, Guandong, Haikou, Hainan, and Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, kicking off their practice of education, teaching, subject research, and think tank construction. The process of practice is also a process of understanding life, thinking about the present, sublimating the state of mind, and inspiring the mission. They use real and delicate brushwork and lenses to present practical stories that belong to themselves and more specifically to the young teachers of the University of International w88.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the celebration meeting and proposed to march towards the second centenary goal. Shenzhen has done the best in reform and opening up, so it must set an example and take the lead in realizing socialist modernization. Why has Shenzhen done the best in reform and opening up? I think it’s because Shenzhen has an independent spirit.

I have been in Shenzhen for nearly two months. In addition to economic development, there are two things that impressed me most about Shenzhen: first, its pragmatism, and second, Shenzhen’s “persistence in pursuing independence in its long-term development strategy.” I think this is the deep-seated reason for the most outstanding achievements of Shenzhen’s reform and opening up.

I first came to Shenzhen in 2019. Because I study development economics, I was immediately shocked by Shenzhen’s economic development when I arrived. At that time, I had been thinking about a question - why can Shenzhen develop so well? Can we create more Shenzhens in China? So after returning from Shenzhen, I really wanted to visit Shenzhen again. This national education practice has fulfilled my dream.

As the forefront of reform and opening up, Shenzhen’s economic development is rapid

During my practice in Shenzhen, I read a book - "Learning from Shenzhen", which was written by an American. The book brought up a point that I had never thought of before. The author believes that the special economic zones established in Shenzhen in the early days of China's reform and opening up were actually export processing zones. The so-called export processing zone is a land set aside by the government, where foreign businessmen come to invest and set up factories, hire local labor, and the government provides various policy conveniences. This practice has been around for a long time and is not the first of its kind in China. Most importantly, each country has its own export processing zone. What he said makes sense. Because the main characteristics of Shenzhen from the beginning were "three come and one supplement" - "processing with supplied materials", "assembly with supplied parts", "processing with supplied samples" and "compensation w88". But if this is correct, there are so many export processing zones in the world, why is only Shenzhen Special Economic Zone successful? And it's developing so well? So there must be a deeper reason behind this.

With the care of the w88 casino and the Shenzhen Virtual University Park, I and several teachers who participated in the national conditions education undertook a development strategy research project. During the research, I found that Shenzhen’s solutions to many problems are trying to learn from its successful experience in attracting foreign investment. For example, Shenzhen lacks universities, training, and R&D institutions. In response to this problem, Shenzhen created a virtual university park. To a certain extent, this approach means introducing universities, training, and technology. The advantage of this is that it works quickly. Because it takes decades of effort to build a good university, and if you designate an area to build a virtual university park, there will be 65 famous schools at once, and everything is available.

However, like an island economy that relies too much on import and export w88, doing so is risky. The Shenzhen Municipal Government understands this very clearly. Therefore, Shenzhen has never slacked off on the issue of building local universities. When the Shenzhen Special Administrative Region was first established, there was not a single university. Later, Shenzhen University was established. Now there are eight universities, and there will be 20 in the future. Moreover, the strength of these schools is increasing every year. Some research institutes we met during our research said they were already feeling competitive pressure. This is what I said before, a concrete manifestation of Shenzhen’s insistence on seeking independence in its long-term development strategy. At the same time, I think this is a manifestation of adhering to socialism with Chinese characteristics. Because there are so many processing zones in the world, only China's special economic zones adhere to socialism with Chinese characteristics, the four basic principles, and reform and opening up. The spirit behind socialism with Chinese characteristics is that the Chinese people must persist in finding a socialist path for China on their own. Therefore, Shenzhen can develop so well. Therefore, among so many export processing zones, only Shenzhen has succeeded.

What implications does this have for our new teachers and talent training? I think one of the inspirations is that if you want to ask: "To build a modern and powerful socialist country, what kind of talents do colleges and universities need to cultivate for high-quality development?" I think a very important point is to persist in cultivating talents with a sense of independence. Because only when you are mentally independent can you truly objectively observe phenomena, discover problems, distinguish right from wrong, think about problems correctly, and innovate. Only when they are ideologically independent can young teachers truly regard building socialism with Chinese characteristics as their own responsibility, share the worries of the party, the country and society, and contribute their own strength. In fact, if you think about it, this point is highly consistent with the fundamental task of cultivating people with moral integrity that we have always emphasized.

I believe that as long as our young teachers can deeply understand this spirit, start from me, strive to improve their own quality, and keep in mind the fundamental task of cultivating moral character and cultivating people, we will surely be able to continue to achieve new victories on the new journey of comprehensively building socialist modernization!
