In order to thoroughly implement Xi Jinping’s thoughts on the rule of law and respond to the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speech on strengthening the role of the rule of law in the construction of the “Belt and Road”, this forum focused on the theme of “Ten Years of Rule of Law Construction under the ‘Belt and Road’: Achievements, Challenges and Futures” and invited senior legal experts and scholars from multiple substantive departments and more than 20 universities and research institutions to conduct discussions. Zhang Mingqi, member of the Party Leadership Group, Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Law Society, said in his opening speech that on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the “Belt and Road” initiative, the theme selected for this forum conforms to the trend of the times, meets practical needs, and is of great significance. Vice President Zhang Mingqi put forward three expectations for the “Belt and Road” research in the legal community: First, the “Belt and Road” rule of law research must adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping’s thought on the rule of law to ensure that the “Belt and Road” rule of law research has a firm political stance and an unbiased political direction; The “Belt and Road” rule of law research must thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and support high-level opening up through the high-quality development of the “Belt and Road”; thirdly, the “Belt and Road” rule of law research must tell Chinese stories well and make China’s voice heard on the international stage.
