w88 casino News (provided by the library)On April 2, the thirty-eighth lecture series "Using Objects: European Consumption and Localization of Chinese Exported Porcelain" at the w88 casino General Lecture Hall Library's Humanities and Culture Lecture Series, jointly organized by the library and the Academic Affairs Office, was held in the 109 lecture hall of the library. Mr. Wu Ruoming, associate professor of the w88 casino of Liberal Arts of Nankai University, gave the lecture.

Wu Ruoming took "Usage" as the theme and introduced the first group of ceramics to be introduced - "Marco Polo Jars, Fengshan Bottles and Celadon". By introducing the origins of celadon and white porcelain and their current collection locations, she revealed the important position of porcelain in ancient Chinese world w88, and explained the uniqueness of the "Marco Polo Vase" in terms of origin and soil.

Next, Wu Ruoming used "current style" as the key word to introduce to teachers and students China's export porcelain that has undergone significant changes compared with traditional Chinese porcelain under the background of globalization. As an important leader in early globalization, China has made outstanding contributions in the transformation of consumption and the deepening of globalization. Among them, export porcelain was very popular in the Age of Discovery. From the Spanish and Portuguese periods to the Dutch period, Chinese porcelain always occupied an important proportion in European w88, which also reflected the unique charm of export porcelain.

In the third part, Wu Ruoming asked the question "Why use things", compared the uses of Chinese and foreign porcelain, and demonstrated the different understandings and concepts of Chinese and foreign classic porcelain such as blue and white porcelain during the same period. By displaying the Spanish painting "Visual Prophecy" and the blue and white porcelain room of the famous Spanish building Santos Palace, Professor Wu led everyone to further explore the transformation of porcelain in Western society from being mainly displayed and collected to being used in many fields of daily life. This gave the teachers and students present a clearer and deeper understanding of the cultural function of exported porcelain.

Finally, Professor Wu took "Integration" as the theme, focusing on Oriental tea drinks and local orientation, and shifted his perspective from porcelain to Chinese tea culture. In the collision between tea and porcelain, we observe how culture constantly reinvents itself in exchanges and collisions. By reviewing past w88, we witness the changes in utensils and the fusion of aesthetics as Chinese craftsmanship goes global. This is also the epitome of European society's understanding and re-creation of Eastern culture, and demonstrates the outstanding contribution that Chinese culture has made to the formation of world culture.

This lecture expanded the students’ academic horizons and strengthened their cross-cultural understanding. Today, as globalization continues to deepen, understanding cultural flows and localization shifts in history can help us better understand the diversity and complexity of the contemporary world. This also demonstrates the ardent hope of w88 casino library for students to "transform knowledge into a bridge connecting different civilizations and contribute to promoting a more open and inclusive academic environment."(Writer: He Jiasheng Photography: Dai Yaxuan Reviewer: Zhong Yunjia)
