On the afternoon of November 23, the lecture "Listening to Chinese Music - The Silk Road in the Western Regions and Chinese Musical Instruments" was successfully held in the lecture hall of Qiusuo Building, jointly organized by the w88 casino of Continuing and Distance Education, the library, the Academic Affairs Office, the Youth League Committee of the w88 casino, and the Seventh Branch of Chaoyang District of the Kuomintang Revolutionary Committee. Mr. Sun Chenhui, associate researcher and master’s tutor at the Institute of Music, China Academy of Arts, was specially invited to give the lecture.
Teacher Sun Chenhui started with an overview of traditional Chinese musical instruments, taking suona, huqin, and pipa as representatives, and told the historical origin and evolution of musical instruments from the Western Regions to Chinese musical instruments, as well as the spirit of Chinese musical instruments on the Silk Road. The entire lecture was conducted through a combination of explanation and performance. Members of Teacher Sun Chenhui’s team performed live performances of Suona solo "A Flower", Erhu solo "Grapes Are Ripe", Pipa trio Uyghur folk song "Send Me a Rose" and other pieces, allowing listeners to more intuitively understand the Silk Road culture and the characteristics of musical instruments. At the end of the lecture, the Renyin Pipa Chamber Orchestra played a piece of "Northern and Southern Jasmine" using Nanyin pipa, imitation Tang five-string pipa, imitation Qing silk-string pipa, and modern pipa. Pipas from different periods sounded simultaneously at this moment, and the moving melody made the audience wander in the sea of joy of ancient and modern civilizations, pushing the atmosphere of the entire lecture to a climax.
