Professor He Guimei is a doctoral supervisor in the Chinese Modern and Contemporary Literature major at Peking University. He has been selected as a national-level talent and concurrently serves as the president of the Chinese Ding Ling Research Association. He has long been committed to the study of modern and contemporary Chinese literary history, contemporary ideological and cultural criticism and gender culture, with a special focus on the construction of contemporary Chinese cultural subjectivity. His monographs "The Age of Transition", "New Enlightenment Knowledge Archives", "Imagination of Humanities" and "Writing "Chinese Style"" have had a wide impact in the academic world.
Professor He Guimei started from Han Shaogong’s personal experience and sorted out his deep connection with Miluo Village. Focusing on the analysis of Han Shaogong's three writings about Miluo countryside, the three works "Papa", "Maqiao Dictionary" and "Mountain South and Water North" respectively represent Han Shaogong's different understanding and expression of the countryside and landscape in different historical periods. She particularly emphasizes Han Shaogong's unique "discovery" of landscape. In this work, Han Shaogong successfully transformed the environment in which he lived into a concrete and visible "landscape". This transformation is mainly reflected in his change of attitude towards the rural environment and innovation in the way of understanding it.
Professor He Guimei extended from literature and focused on the significance of revisiting "landscape" in the 21st century. She believes that with the rapid development of society and profound changes in urban and rural structures, people's understanding and understanding of landscapes are also constantly deepening. Re-mentioning "landscape" is not only a return to and inheritance of traditional culture, but also an in-depth thinking and exploration of the humanistic spirit of contemporary society. Professor He Guimei tries to answer the fundamental question of "how do we live in China today" from the relationship between landscape, countryside, ecology, nature and humanity. She believes that in the face of various challenges and changes in contemporary society, we should focus on cultivating a comprehensive humanistic imagination and abandon narrow concepts such as anthropocentrism, modern centrism, Western centrism and retroism. Only when we have civilization consciousness can we discover "landscape" and truly understand ourselves, China and the world.
