Mark Obama Di Shanjiu once published an article "Shenzhen Attitude" in the New York Times. He said in the article that Shenzhen and even China will become more relaxed and traditional in the future, and people will pay attention to quality life and learn to enjoy time. He explained the reasons from two aspects. First, Chinese traditional culture attaches great importance to the relationship between man and nature. This deep-rooted cultural tradition will not disappear with economic development. Second, Chinese people's living standards are gradually improving, and their requirements for living environment and quality are getting higher and higher. "I saw a family walking in Shenzhen at night. They walked quietly and slowly, very peaceful and warm."

Obama Di Shanjiu not only has a positive and optimistic attitude towards China's future, but is also committed to Chinese charity and helping people in need. He regularly gives piano lessons to orphans in Shenzhen and donates 15% of the proceeds from his novels to charity. "Charity has helped me a lot," he shared his experience when he visited a welfare institution in Shenzhen. "I walked into a room with 60 children, and there were only two caregivers in it, but the room was very quiet. I walked in and held a child's little hand, and he grabbed my finger and refused to let me leave. At that moment, I understood that he doesn't care whether you are black or white, Chinese or American, he needs love."

When talking about the motivation to help others, Di Shanjiu said: "I feel that helping others is like breathing." He believes that absolute altruism exists and helping others is a natural thing. ‘We need to do just because we are human.’ He believes that helping others requires persistence, and the most important thing is to call on the people being helped to help others and pass on peace of mind.

Mark Obama Di Shanjiu loves Chinese calligraphy. He believes that calligraphy is a great art form like music. "When writing calligraphy, there is a feeling of flowing river, quiet and smooth, and you know its direction." He splashed ink on the spot and inscribed in cursive the eight characters "As thirsty for knowledge, as humble as foolish". He pointed out that this is what Steve Jobs said, which is consistent with China's traditional spirit. Different cultures arrive at the same destination by different paths.

Di Shanjiu speaks fluent Chinese. During the interview, he often quoted the words of Confucius, ancient Chinese poems, and proverbs, such as "Ignorance is not known, but knowledge", "The heart has a clear understanding", "Nothing is difficult in the world, only those who are willing", ancient Chinese poems, proverbs, etc. to explain and supplement their views. He regards China as his third hometown after Kenya and the United States. He uses his practical actions to pass on culture, spread love, and shoulder social responsibilities as an international citizen.
